I’m going to share about my diagnosis on facebook. This is what I’ve got so far. Should I remove or add something? Tell me what you think
I live with schizoaffective disorder. This means that I struggle with mania, depression av psychosis.
I didn’t get my diagnosis until I was 23 years old. Before that I was diagnoser with bipolar disorder type 1. The difference between the two diagnoses is that with schizoaffective disorder gets psychosis even without mania or depression. When in psychosis you view reality different. For example you can hear voices that doesn’t exist or have delusions and believe things that aren’t true.
I started struggle with my mental health when I was 11. Since then I’ve been admitted to the hospital many times and tried a bunch of different medications. Today I take medication every day. Both antipsychotics, mood stabilizers and antidepressant medication.
I think it’s important to talk about mental health. I feel less alone when I talk with people that have the same issues as me. I want to not be afraid to say ”I have a psychotic illness”
