the equation for volume is 

V=LWT (Volume = Length * Width * Height)

so you just need to plug in the three numbers the problem gives you.

for the first one L=16 W=9 H=4, so your equation would be V = 16 * 9 * 4

multiply them together and you should get your answer.

for the second one, the two smaller rectangles are the sides of the larger one 



the three numbers it gives you are the three measurements you need, so same as before, just multiply them together to get your answer
