Unpopular opinion about therapy

If you openly admit  in threads that you are hiding from your therapist ( gas lighting ) you dont deserve the help you are getting. And if you fall out from the list because you are hiding you dont deserve to be on the list again.
Not everyone can get therapy and some people have to wait YEARS before they can get the help they need. Dont act like its a funny or a funny quirk that you have.

What is the longest you had yo wait for getting help?

I had to wait 6 months for a therapist to have availability. Because there were only 13 queer specialized therapists that my insurance covered but none of them had any availability for new clients.

My best friend had to wait a year because their insurance dubbed them "not in need" so they were put on a waiting list for someone to become available and that therapist still didn't cover or do what they needed

Therapy isn't for everyone and when you acknowledge it's not for you, that you're not bring open and honest in a safe place that so many want---
That's a soap box for another time lmfao

I never even wanted to go back after the first time, but I've been like 50 times I feel like, every time theres no point, but every time the state wants to send me back in to cure me, not my fault. If I could choose, would never

i think the threshold depends on the type of therapy, but i assume you're talking about psychological therapy? it should be noted that different countries have different systems in place which means something that applies to one place doesn't mean it applies to another. public healthcare especially is vastly different (countries where it's "free" vs. countries where you need an insurance or something along the line)

I think its better to tell the therapist that a brake or that they can be on hold/ standby for xx months instead of just ignore the calls they make or trying to get to schedule an appointment. Where i live its hard to get a time when you get on the list. There was a time in the past when i and others had to call the clinic once a week to see if there was a time for an appointment.

It makes me mad when people treat it nonchalant and funny, ( They might not mean it in a harmful way but when you have been in the loop you get stingy. If you get therapy and feels its not for you then tell the  therapist that you want to wait and let the next one in line get the help they need.

And its a big scandal that you need the right insurance to get help.

Saw a thread on the net where people talked about ignoring calls from the therapist and so on.

Yes, where i live you are lucky if someone can see you the same year. A few years ago me and others had to call the center once every week to see if there was a spot open. When you have been in the system long enough you know how hard it is. And when i read about people that ignores the help they are getting i get mad.

i guess i'm lucky living in a country where you have to have health insurance (even tho i have to pay it myself bc i have no job which is kind of inronic lol) so at least i don't have to worry about that. normally health insurance here covers everything to a degree (f.ex. for dentist you can choose the treatment and the lowest is covered and the higher ones you have to give money aditionally or pay yourself). depression seems like a thing that is always covered fully bc it was never a problem for me to get my treatment paid for. at least normal therapy is covered, for stationary treatment you have to pay a daily fee (but they are nice about paying it back later and stuff)

i still had to wait 3 years for a therapist to go to because there are few and a lot of mental illnesses, most of them don't even do waiting lists anymore because there is no chance to handle the load lol. getting into a clinic took only 4month though

Oh yeah, the people who aren't serious about going to therapy and think it's just whatever should go and pay a private clinic instead and leave the public system alone.
I recently requested an emergency appointemt with my psychiatrist cause I urgently needed a medication change, so because it was an emergency they gave me their earliest date: 2 and a half months of wait.
Some of the professionals of the mental health centre I go to have an average rate of 20 patients per hour, if someone doesn't want to take mental health care seriously just do all of us a favour and go somewhere else
