One of the main reasons wanting ft to do it alot of times, is that it generally gets more attention than some personal threads on the subjects and it keeps it all in one easily accessible thread.

Isn't the point to make fun in forums and not write abt ur interests, thats bt 
well ft has it as well (writing about your interest to cause discussion, which is what ft is about), and while ft do fun things also it's mostly in terms of forum games !
bt is more to spread info about your interest rather than cause a discussion surrounding it
