FT: Music Videos

International star

This year marks the 40th anniversary of MTV (founded 1.8.1981)
but nowadays the television channel is not what it used to be.
Still, judging by a certain Lil Nas X song,
music videos still seem to be as up to date and conversational as ever before.

How do you feel about music videos, do you even watch them anymore?
Do you miss the lazy Sunday mornings and MTV bashing in the background?
Have you ever been offended by a music video?

Let's discuss!
Feel free to link some favorites or conversational ones as well.

I just watch kpop MV's, but I used to watch a lot more MV's a few years ago, now it's just not that important anymore
I didn't really watch MTV as a kid, maybe once in a while, and I can't remember if I've ever been offended by a music video 🤔🤔

I've seen only a few kpop videos but I remember the cool dance choreographies and colorful aesthetic!
They seemed to have such a happy vibe to them

i feel like music videos lost their importance after 2015, with the streaming era. they used to be a campaign for people to buy the song, now a song sells by it being watched.

i used to LOVE the mtv countdowns as a kid. i was obsessed. its where i found my love of nicki minaj when super bass music video was on the top 40. i'd wake up at like 8am to watch the latest videos.

never been offended by music videos.
very happy to see anaconda on here because the video is literally ground-breaking and almost the start of sexual liberation being accepted in main stream media. the world stopped when it dropped i luv it

Yeah, the matter of the music videos has changed for sure. I miss the old days on this one...

Me too!! I remember the feeling so well.
I love that for you and Nicki.
Sometimes we still pretend that it's 2010 again with my little sister, and watch some of our favorite music videos from the youtube on TV. I love those moments honestly. Metal and rock were always severely underrepresented on MTV but I understand it. And I love a good pop song as much!

Of course!!
Anaconda is and will always be iconic and a forerunner. It caused such a hassle and I loved it. Legendary.

Speaking of Tuna, how did I forget about this gem of a music video, as well as the song itself, incredible.
