Q&A on Feedback from Roadmap
Thanks so much for your feedback. I have created a Q&Abased on input from all three sites. The core understanding is that change is
needed. Not all change will be embraced by everyone, and that's understandable.
It's impossible to please everyone. However, we need to think about the future
of Virtual Popstar and the continuation of this game.
If we just keep doing what we're doing now, Virtual Popstarwon't survive. It's as simple as that. We need to make changes, but we will
continue to monitor your feedback and make adjustments accordingly. In one of
the questions, we mention that the roadmap is a flexible plan, not set in
stone, and we'll adjust where possible based on your overall feedback.
I will be travelling from Sunday for the next 7-8 days.During this time, I won't be able to check your comments daily, but rest
assured, we will keep monitoring the feedback.
1. Currencies: Tokens, Credits, Popdollars, Promo Points
Q1. Are Popdollars going away?
A: No. Popdollars are not being removed. They remain the main free/ earnable currency. We might clean up how currencies are displayed sothings look less confusing, but deleting the a free currency is not part of the
plan.
Q2. Why do we need Tokens when wealready have Credits?
A: okens are not a replacement for credits. They are simply a conversionof real money that you're putting into Virtual Popstar. Currently, the mega
credit month sets are being paid for with real money, so there's no difference
in that regard. :
Tokens → pay for new premium content (like weekly sets) in a clear, predictable way. Credits (CR) → stay as the main trading/marketplace/auction currency and for certain sinks (like DM).The main differenceis that previously, all the mega credit month sets were launched on the first
of the month. You couldn't select which set you wanted unless you only wanted a
two-euro set. Players have repeatedly expressed their desire to buy only the
sets they want and not be forced to purchase other sets.
We initially thoughtwe could use real money directly. However, if many people want to buy the two
or six-euro sets, each two-euro transaction costs us about 40 to 50 cents. This
means that instead of receiving two euros, we're only getting 1.5 euros. If
someone spends 48 euros in one go, we receive more money compared to someone
who spends 48 euros over 24 transactions.
With tokens, you canbuy them in higher amounts and don't have to spend them all at once if you're
not interested in the current sets. You can keep your tokens and use them on
other sets later.
Q3. Are credits staying? (CR)?
A: Yes. Credits are staying. You’ll still be able to buy them, and they’re still important for:
Marketplace trading Auctions Specific Credit sinks (e.g. Diamond Membership, depending on final design)We’re not replacing Credits withTokens; we’re adding Tokens next to them.
Q4. Are Tokens only available for realmoney, or can we earn them too?
A: The main purpose of Tokens is to provide a reliable real-moneyincome stream for VP. So the primary way is buying them.
That said, we also want smallearnable / promo ways to get Tokens over time (events, bundles, promos, maybe contest rewards). These will not be enough to grab every paid set, but
they mean it’s not 100% pay-only.
Q5. Are we going to end up with fourcurrencies at once (Tokens, Credits, Popdollars, Promo Points)? Isn’t that too
many?
A: No. With VirtualPopstar, the main currencies are credits and popdollars. Promo points haven't been used for years, but we need to look into
them as they might offer a free way to earn tokens. We still need to explore
that. As mentioned earlier, tokens are not an additional currency; they are
simply a storage method on VP for your real money.
Q6. What happens to Promo Points?
A: Promo Points are not being wiped. Over time we might:
Re-theme them, or Simplify how they fit into the bigger economyBut there is no secret wipe planned. If we decide to change them significantly, we’ll explain it ahead of time.
2. Diamond Membership (DM)
Q7. Will Diamond Membership becomereal-money only?
A: The main reason we're considering linking the diamond membership totokens is as follows. It would be beneficial for Virtual Popstar to secure
repeatable and reliable income. This consistency allows us to better plan our
projects, as we can predict next month's income potential based on this month's
figures.
If you purchase a diamond membership, which is completely optional, you might receive tokens with it. For instance,
subscribing to a monthly or yearly diamond membership could grant you a certain
number of tokens. These tokens can then be used to buy new sets.
This concept still requires furtherexploration and detail.
DM is meant to be an optional support tier, not a hard paywall. The team knows DM is an important Credit sink, especially for some usersSo the intention is not tosilently flip DM into “cash only, no Credits” without discussion. Any big
change to DM’s payment options would be communicated and argued out with you
first. So this is still being evaluated.
Q8. Will we still have Credit sinks?
A: That’s exactly what we want. Whatever we do with DM, we want Creditsto stay relevant. DM is one of the key places Credits can flow out ofthe system, so we’re being careful with it.
Q9. How is DM different from justbuying Tokens?
A: Simple version:
DM → more like a subscription: ongoing support each month, plus a bundle of perks plus we might include
tokesn. Tokens → one-off purchases: you buy them when you want to grab specific sets – this is an option for
people who do not want a DM.
3. Weekly Drops, Old Content & Reruns
Q10. How will the “weekly Token drops”work in practice?
A: The plan (based on feedback and internal ideas):
New sets released on a regular schedule (ideally weekly) Clear prices – Focus on new content, with occasional special reruns/recoloursAdmins should be able to plan multipleweeks ahead so it feels organised, not chaotic.
Q11. Will older favourite sets (BPs,MCMs, event sets) be re-released as Token sets?
A: This is one of the most sensitive topics from DE & NL feedback.
Some older favourites might return as clearly marked re-releases (e.g. recolours, special editions). We don’t want to devalue very rare items by flooding the market with identical clones. If/when we rerun, it should be transparent and, where possible, distinguishable from the original (tag,
colour, etc.).We know people invested serious timeand money into those items. Any change here will be handled carefully and
talked about.
Q14. Can there be multiple sets perweek, or is it always just one?
A: Technically multiple sets per week are possible (main set + recolour+ maybe a small extra). The exact volume will depend on:
Artist capacity Demand Not spamming people with too much at onceWe’ll likely start more modestly andadjust based on how it goes.
4. Fairness & Pay-to-Win Concerns
Q15. Is VP becoming pay-to-win orpay-to-look-good?
A: The goal is no. We need more stable income to keep VP aliveand improving, but:
Free players should still be able to look good over time Free players should still enjoy events, contests and community Paying should feel like “extra options / more variety”, not “basic access to fun”If it ends up feeling pay-to-win inpractice, that’s a sign we need to rebalance.
5. UI, Mobile & Design
Q16. Who is responsible for the new UI– is it only Enbette?
A: Enbette is the developer implementing the UI, but:
The visual direction (style, look, feel) is not meant to be decided by one person alone. The roadmap explicitly mentions involving the community because VP has a lot of talented layout and graphic people. So: Enbette builds it, but feedbackfrom players should influence how it looks and works.
6. Communication & next steps
Q17. Why is everything still a bitvague?
A: Some parts are still being tested on paper (like exactDM perks, token pricing ranges, designer rates). That’s why we’re doing this
Q&A now: to spot problems early. Once things are stable enough, we’ll share
concrete info.
Q18. Will you adjust the plan if thecommunity hates a part of it?
A: Yes. The roadmap is a living plan, not a law. If somethingclearly doesn’t work or feels wrong once we show more details, we’d rather
adjust than push through a bad idea.
Q19. How can we keep giving feedbackas things roll out?
A: We’ll keep this Q&A topic open, and we’ll make separate topicsfor UI WIPs, economy updates, and bug / balance reports.Posting there – respectfully but honestly – is the best way to influence
things.
