Molli continued her shift at the coffee shop, participating in witty banter with customers when necessary as she prepared a wide selection of drinks. After a few hours of diligent work, she stepped into the back room and took a break to check her phone. She noticed a few messages from some of her friends, all wondering if she would be attending the tailgate that evening. She was happy to confirm their curiosities, then she realized that she would have to introduce Donnie to all of her friends. For some reason, this thought gave her a slight butterfly sensation in her stomach. Was she actually excited to have Donnie at her side this evening? After all, he probably wouldn't know any of the people there and she would be the entertainer for once. She assumed that he was usually the one to take that role at parties and gatherings but it was her turn now. Before she could get too ahead of herself, she went back to work for the few remaining hours. Business picked up around 4 o'clock with what she liked to call the "out-of-work, pre-dinnertime" rush. Molli made her way around the shop, doing whatever actions were requested of her by her manager and the customers. It wasn't long until the end of her shift arrived and it was time to head out. Luckily, her shift was shorter today, but she would have to return tomorrow for a double shift - 8 to 6. She gathered her things and clocked out before leaving the shop to begin the short walk home.
Owen took a bite of his donut and followed up with a sip of hot chocolate. He had an insatiable sweet tooth that he was sure would be the death of him some day. "It's no problem, really," he started in response to her thanking him. "I just felt like..." He cleared his throat, his eyes avoiding hers for a moment as he collected his thoughts. "I've been a bit of a dummy lately, honestly," he said with a nervous laugh. "I haven't really been owning up to my actions and I basically called you out last night because you live life a little differently than I do. I know I haven't been the best roommate lately so I had no place to call you out, and for that I'm sorry. But on the bright side, we know a little more about each other and might have more in common than we think." He shrugged and showed her a small smile. "It was nice being with you last night, Dahlia," he added. He thought back to the memory of being in bed with her, and the bottom line was that he had actually enjoyed it. He wondered if she was thinking about the same thing, and the thought pulled at his heart a little bit. He leaned against the counter and looked over at her as she sat on the bar stool. How as it that they lived completely different lives, similar only in their living arrangements, and yet he was so intrigued by her? "What is on your agenda for the day?" he asked her.
