''That's fine, I'm not too big of a fan of cars at the minute anyway. It took an hour, a panic attack and lots of tears just to get me into the car to go home from the hospital.'' she said, shaking her head. When she got into the car that day all she could see were the brights lights coming towards her. Even just thinking about it made her feel queasy. She felt a tear fall but she quickly wiped it away, she didn't want to cry today. It was going to be a good day, she had done enough crying at home. When he said he'll try if she tries she couldn't help but grin, happy that he was giving her a chance to remember and for them to work on things. She was half expecting him to want to give up on her and move on. ''Promise?'' she asked, lifting a hand up, holding her pinkie out . ''That sounds lovely. did we spend a lot of time at your house?'' she asked ''And are you a good cook? I love it when a guy is good at cooking.'' she said with a small smile ''And yeah it will be nice to just chat. It's nice that we can do that, I feel like I can't really do that with my parents. It's almost like they're scared of saying stuff to me if I don't remember so they just don't say much at all. It's strange, I feel more comfortable now, around you, than I do with them.'' she told him. ''Naomi..'' she said, the name not bringing up a face in her mind. ''Naomi.. is your sister right? I saw some texts between me and her from before the accident on my phone and I guessed that was who she was. I'm sorry if I'm wrong by the way.'' she said with a little laugh. ''Thank you by the way, for coming and taking me out today. It's nice to get out. I was starting to feel like a prisoner in my room.''
Mat nodded, biting his lip a little as he didn't really know what to say back about her not having much time for art. He was giving but she wasn't really taking and giving back, conversation wise. He took a sip of his coffee, grininng a little at the lovely taste. Mandy really did make the best coffee in town. He frowned when she said about just writing the speach and there being no more small talk bull shit. He was a bit shocked at her reaction, he had remembered her being friendly and chatty. He didn't realise until just how much she had changed since her track days. "if that's what you want. Sorry for trying with the whole get to know each other thing. I guess I shouldn't have bothered. I just thought it might have made the speech sound better, make it more personal and relevant to us and our class if that makes sense. And who knows, we could be friends. You dont know that it won't go anywhere until you've tried so don't say it wouldn't have gone anywhere when you haven't even given it a chance." He said as he sat his mug back down on the table. He didn't understand her, why couldn't they have even tried to be friends? Surely it would have made the whole process more enjoyable. When she said she had to go and rushed out the door he stood quickly, grabbing his jacket. He followed her out "Sara wait! At least get me take you back to school. And don't worry I'll leave you alone. Just know Sara, sometimes people just want to be nice. They don't want anything from you they just want to be nice. Not everything has a hidden motive." He said as he opened the passenger door for her, hoping she would get in. He would feel better if she knew she was at school and ok.
