Carmen was ready to speak and to agree with his offer but instead he pulled on her hand and she ran along with him. It looked like a cupboard and she was confused, why were they hiding in a cupboard? But then once they got it, she realised it was an elevator and the sound of his mother's voice disappeared as the doors closed. She looked at Charles, a smile forming on her face, "Definitely," she agreed but she didn't want to go home just yet. It was still early in the evening and she felt like she'd spent little to no time getting to know Charles since most of the time had been spent at dinner. "I want to see your penthouse," she said boldly the smile still on her lips. But then she realised how forward that sounded and she backtracked a little, "I mean, if that's alright with you. I'd just like to see where we'd be living and if my housewife skills will be able to handle the cleaning of the place," she said in a teasing tone, his mothers words coming back to haunt her. The lift doors opened slowly and she stepped out in the garage and her mouth literally dropped. There had to be at least 10 different cars here and each one more expensive than the other. It made her car look like a heap of shit .. even though it basically was. But she'd bought it with her own money and she was determined to ride it out until it's last breath. "Which one is yours?" she asked him, her finger gliding along the bonnet of a porsche as they walked past the cars. The amount of wealth his family had just continuously blew her away.

Alexander listened to her answer and he smiled as they made eye contact, lifting his glass to her slightly from the opposite end of the table. So far so good, his mother was asking easy and light questions and he hoped that meant it would stay that way so they could have an enjoyable dinner. His mother nodded her head as she spoke, "And how long will the course take?" she asked her, lifting the glass of champagne to her lips as she took a sip. But before Ayah could answer she spoke again, "I was just thinking along the timeline because obviously if you want to be married by Summer, naturally children would come soon after," she said, her eyes on Ayah the whole time to test what her reaction would be. "Do you think you would be able to handle being a lawyer along with taking care of a family?" she asked. Alexander felt his jaw clench a little as he lifted the glass of scotch to his lips, taking a sip from his again. He was going to need a lot more of this if the night continued like this. Everything was being forced on them. The ring, the idea of children. They weren't even married yet and here his mother was asking if Ayah would be able to handle everything. He was proud that she had a path she wanted to follow in life and he knew that when the time was right, they would be able to handle children. "Mother, I think that is a little inappropriate to ask. Ayah and I will decide if and when we want to have children, it has nothing to do with you," he told her sharply, motioning to the waiter to get him another glass.

Ayah was shocked by his mother's boldness. I knew it was too good to be true. Ayah opened her mouth to speak but Alexander beat her to the punch. Ayah was happy that Alexander was there to stick up for her. She knew that things would've went totally different if this was just a one on one conversation. Ayah reached for her glass of water this time instead of the wine. She didn't want his mother to think that she had the ability to stress her out, even though it was evident that she did. Ayah took a small sip before returning the glass in its correct place. She looked up and noticed that his mother was still looking at her. Going against her better judgement, Ayah decided that she would answer the question anyway. It was apparent that his mother wasn't going to drop the topic. "I'm enrolled in an advanced course that will take a little over 18 months. As far as children go, Alexander and I will make the sacrifices needed to raise them when the time comes. Children aren't something that we are necessarily focused on at this moment." Ayah heard her father clear his throat, which made her stomach turn. She knew that, that meant he was disappointed in her answer but she could honestly care less. The waiter had finally made it over to take Ayah's order. She ordered a shetland island salmon dish that came over a bed of rice and asparagus. After the water wrote down her order, Ayah handed him the menu and gave a warm smile. Ayah noticed that her mother was glaring at her but she just decided to avoid eye contact with her.

Charles cackled at her witty remark. He admired Carmen's bluntness. He decided that he'd joked back with her. Charles licked his bottom lip and seductively whispered, "Hm, my place, eh?" He winked at her then let out a chuckle. Once out of the elevator, Charles grabbed the keys to his McClaren sports car and pointed to it. His car was jet black with a peanut-buttered brown leather interior. He hoped that it wasn't too flashy for her liking. Once they made it to the car, he opened her door and helped her get inside. He jogged around to the driver's side of the car and quickly got in. He fastened his seatbelt and turned on the air conditioner. Before pressing the key start, he looked over at Carmen and smirked, "Ready to race?" He said as if they were about to race. He pushed his feet on the gas and sped out of their driveway and past the big fountain that was in front of their house. He stopped in front of the security gate and rolled down the window. His favorite guard was there. "Can you page my father and tell them to stop looking for us?" The guard laughed a bit and nodded. He opened the gate to let Charles out and he sped off. He hoped that he wasn't scaring Carmen because he was a firm believer in doing a little speeding here and there.

Alex hadn't been expecting Ayah to answer but when she did, he smiled slightly. There was the attitude he'd seen from her previously. She didn't even need him to stick up for her, but he wanted to show that since they were insistent on this union he would have back through whatever. If that meant against both of his own parents and hers then so be it. "We need to get through the wedding first before anything else," Alex muttered, meeting Ayah's eyes across the table as he took a sip out of his glass. His mother had tried to get underneath her skin and she hadn't been able which he was glad about. "Speaking of the wedding, we were looking at venues and such. Obviously we will have a planner but we would also like to hear both of your views before making any decisions," his mother said. Alex raised an eyebrow, wondering exactly what she was up to. The words seemed too reasonable to be coming out of her mouth. "We were thinking of holding the ceremony in Tuscany, obviously we have the holiday home there and a beautiful wedding near the vineyards was something I think would be just divine," his mother said with a happy smile on her face. She was used to getting her own way constantly which was why she looked so happy. "What do you think?" she asked the two of them and Alex nodded at Ayah so she could talk first. He wanted to see what her opinion was and to see if she had any preferences of where she wanted to get married. He had thought she'd quite liked the gardens and had thought that may have been a good idea.

Carmen let her eyes fall to her lap before looking back up at him, a smile of her own on her face, "I think you mean our place," she said to him in her own jokingly seductive voice. His car was one that she'd never expected. It was a genuine sports car and she let her jaw drop once she was inside. "Okay wow, this is amazing," she said, letting her nail glide over the interior gently. She buckled up her seat belt and she was glad that she did because Charles was a speed demon to say the least. She laughed a little as his speed only got quicker as he drove, "I want one of these," she said with a laugh as they sped along the road, the water glistening, the sun was setting and it looked beautiful out the window. He'd spoke about his penthouse being on the coast and she couldn't wait to see it. She wondered if it was a typical bachelors pad and if it was she was going to have to sprinkle her own feminine touch to the apartment. He was slowing down a little and she figured they were nearing their destination. The gates he stopped in front of were huge and it was right next to the beach. Once the car stopped, she turned to him with a grin and shook her head, "Is your flat a total bachelors pad?" she asked him with a raised eyebrow, unbuckling her seat belt as she got out of the car on her own. Her heels were starting to hurt her feet but she was a trooper and she'd keep them on for the whole night.

Ayah thought back to the gardens. It was perfect for a wedding. She could envision marrying Alex there, with a small ceremony of no more than 40 people. She knew that his mother was trying to be helpful but Ayah would've rather her and Alexander meet alone with the planner to discuss what they wanted. Ayah noticed that Alex nodded at her, queueing her to speak. She smiled a bit and turned to his mother, "That sounds lovely but what about having the wedding here? I mean the gardens are beautiful." She said with heavy emphasis on the word beautiful. Ayah knew that she was going to have to compromise on the amount of guest that would be attending, so she figured that she could at least have a say in the venue. Ayah's mother, Janice, sat her fork down on her plate and smiled. "Ayah, she already has a venue. You can't just demand that she change it." Ayah sighed at her mother's remark. She wished that one of her parents would be on her side. She looked to her father, who's body language read that he agreed with Janice. "Hmm.. I thought I was the one getting married." Ayah sarcastically retorted at her mother. She looked towards Alexander with pleading eyes, hoping that he wasn't too upset about her behavior.

Charles noticed that Carmen seemed to like his car. At first he was afraid that she'd think it was a bit much. When she expressed interest in the car, he thought about getting her one for their first anniversary gift. If it was the old him, he would've splurged on her sooner but he wanted to make sure that she loved him for him, and not just for what he could give her. When they made it to the penthouse, he gave the valet his keys got out the car. He tried to help Carmen out but she had beat him to the punch. He noticed that she was beginning to walk weirdly, he figured it was because of her high heels. "Would you like me to carry you up?" He didn't want her to be in pain. They still had quite a walk to get to the elevator. The high-rise building that his penthouse was in, was massive. Many celebrities and other public figures lived there. He hoped that Carmen would be able to adjust to seeing them without getting starstruck. It was common for paparrazi to sometimes be outside if they were tipped off about a star being there.

Alex felt a smile appear on his face when he heard Ayah mention the gardens, glad that he had been right about his theory. They were beautiful and if that's what she wanted then he would make sure that she got it. All he had to was to bargain with his mother a little. He about about to speak to give his own opinion before Ayah had a moment with her mother before turned to look at him with begging eyes. He cleared his throat a little, "I think the gardens would be a great place to have a ceremony. If you think about it mother, it would give ample opportunity for photographs too with the wild flowers and such," he said to her as he noticed a change in her facial expression. He'd been in this house for 26 years, he knew what words worked with his mother and what didn't. Shouting and cursing and getting angry never worked because her temper was so bad. Instead he had found a pragmatic way around it. "If you allow us to have the wedding ceremony in the garden, you can invite whoever you want and I'm sure the ceremony could be held wherever you wish," he told her, picking up the glass as he took another sip of scotch. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't and he just hoped that time it would be a success. "Now that I think about it, a photograph next to fountain would look stunning," she agreed with a nod of her head as she turned to discuss with Janice who seemed just as excited. He met Ayah's eyes across the table and gave her a quick wink, letting her know it would all be okay.

Carmen shook her head quickly at him when he offered to carry, "Thank you but no, the trick is to walk through the pain," she said with a light laugh. She'd done it on so many nights out that she should be used to it. But the new heels were nipping at her toes a little. As they walked towards the high rise building, she let her eyes move around her, just absorbing everything. She had thought that his family home had been amazing but this was even more gaudy than she was used to. A moment later, a man walked out of the building nodding politely to them both and she thought she recognised him from somewhere but she wasn't sure. She grasped Charles' arm lightly as they walked, "Was he in a film or something? He looks oddly familiar," she said to him, her brows furrowed a little as she thought about it. The man at the door held the door open for them and she smiled, thanking him as they stepped inside the cool lobby. Her heels clicked against the marble floor as they walked towards another elevator and she glanced over at him, I'm already speechless and I haven't even seen inside your apartment yet," she admitted to him, biting on her bottom lip gently. This new life was certainly going to take some time to get used to.

Ayah felt a rush of butterflies in stomach. Alexander had a way of making her feel so special. He was definitely charming and she was starting to think that this marriage thing would work out fine. As long as they were able to be honest with one another, she was sure that they'd have a good life together. Her worst fear was infidelity. She knew that it could happen especially since they both had no say so in who their partner was. Ayah returned a wink to Alex. She was so happy that he was able to bargain with his mother. Ayah's father faintly smiled at Alexander. "So Alex, do you have any expectations that you expect my daughter to meet?" Ayah rolled eyes at her father's shitty question. This isn't a job interview, jack ass. She was clearly annoyed by her father's presence. Everything had to be so punctual with him and it annoyed the hell out of her. Janice budged in before Alexander got a chance to speak, "Ayah is fully capable of doing whatever you'd like her to, Alex." Ayah scoffed at the two of them, it sounded like they were prostituting her out. She reached for her glass and finished the rest of her wine. The waiter noticed her glass was empty and rushed over to refill it. Once filled, Ayah thanked the waiter and began to take another sip.

Charles laughed at Carmen, "Oh, you haven't seen anything yet." Charles said playfully as he walked towards the elevator. Once he stopped in front of the elevator, the apartment attendant greeted him. "Hello Mr. Wright and Misses.....?" He paused, waiting for her name. Charles smiled weakly at the attendant before speaking, "Wright." Charles said with a slight chuckle. It was funny to hear someone being addressed as his wife. "Nice to meet you, Mrs. Wright." The attendant said frantically. He didn't know that Charles was married and instantly began to fear that Charles was going to be upset with him. Thankfully the elevator beeped, indicating that it was now on their floor. Charles and Carmen walked inside of the glass elevator. The elevator had the same marble floors as the lobby and the buttons were made out of gold. "Oh and to answer your questions, my flat isn't exactly too much of a bachelor pad. It could be worse." He said in between laughs. He pressed the button for the top floor. Once the elevator stopped her let Carmen walk out first, then he lead her to his penthouse. "Oh, the guy outside was Tom Cruise. He and a few other celebrities live here." Charles pulled out the key to the penthouse and turned his head back at carmen and smirked, "Ready to see our house?"

Alex picked up his glass of scotch and took another sip as her father spoke to him and he wasn't going to lie, he nearly choked on the scotch. What kind of a question was that? Like she was some kind of property and not a human being. He blinked, gathering his thoughts and trying his best to find something to say that wasn't laced with anger. But then her mother also spoke up and his eyes flicked to her to and he literally couldn't believe his ears. He knew the marriage was to seal the joining of the companies but that didn't mean he'd own Ayah like his father would own the new business. "No offence sir, but I think that's quite a tasteless question to ask," he said first and he could feel the glare of his mother, her eyes burning holes into the side of his head but he continued anyway. "I'd already assumed that Ayah was capable of doing whatever she pleased and that will still be the case when we get married. There are no expectations of her from myself or my parents," he told them both. He wanted to get those words out there so his parents knew his position on the whole matter too. He couldn't control Ayah even if he wanted to. She was a head-strong girl and he liked that. He wanted a partner that would stand by his side, not behind him. "Of course children would be one expectation," his mother said with a smile and Alex rolled his eyes as he clenched his jaw. "Mother please, enough talk of children. You'll all know as soon as it happens," he told her tightly, praising the lord when he saw the waiters come out with the plates of food. "So Ayah, what are you interested in?" his mother continued to grill her at the dinner table as Alex picked up his knife and fork and began to eat.

Carmen felt her heart jump into her throat when he introduced her as 'Mrs Wright.' It did have a certain ring to it that she liked but it still made her feel weird. She smiled at the attendent, "It's lovely to meet you too," she paused for a moment as she looked at his name badge before back to his eyes, "Andre," she finished with name. He looked nervous of Charles and she couldn't help but to wonder why. Perhaps it would come out later. They got into the glass elevator and Carmen felt like freaking out over all of this but she kept her cool. There were celebs that would be living in their building too, "I knew I recognised him. He's in those mission impossible films!" she exclaimed with a light laugh. Maybe she'd catch sight of more celebrities the longer they stayed here. She followed behind him and stood just behind him as he unlocked the door, smiling at his words and how he chose the word our. Nodding her head silently, she stepped inside and her jaw physically dropped, she couldn't help it. Not only was the place huge but it was tasteful and everything was just gleaming. She didn't even know where to go first. She wandered to the side, looking at the kitchen, letting her finger trail across the island gently as she looked at the sleek marble tops and the low lighting. Her feet then carried over to the windows which were ceiling to floor and she looked out at the view, shaking her head, "Wow, just ... wow," she said, not being able to say much else as she watched the sun glisten over the sea. This was her new home and she couldn't quite believe it.

Ayah was relieved to see the servers coming out with their food. The severs placed Ayah's perfectly, sautéed, salmon in front of her. The food presentation was worthy of being on the cover of a food magazine. Despite the perfect presentation, Ayah no longer had an appetite. Her parents were doing the absolute most. She did not understand why they made it their mission to humiliate and degrade her in such manner. Ayah was appreciative of Alexander defending her and standing up to her parents. She had wished that she had someone do that for her throughout her entire life, it would have made growing up a lot easier. Her parents always had a way of treating Ayah poorly, which caused her to grow thick skin. Ayah looked up from her food and faintly smiled at his mother, "As far as what?" Ayah said blankly. She wanted to make sure she knew exactly what his mother was meant, so she wouldn't have a chance to twist Ayah's answer. Ayah took her fork and knife and began to slowly cut a piece of her fish. She took a small bite and her mouth watered for more. There was no way that someone could cook that good.

Charles was happy that she seemed to be satisfied with the place. It wasn't much compared to his parents' home but it was enough for him. Charles stood in the kitchen as Carmen walked over to the windows. He began to admire her from afar. He liked her playful nature and he was thankful that she had beauty to match. He wanted to make sure they were friends before they started to get romantically involved. He figured it would be for the best because they had to stay married, no matter what. Charles pulled out a bottle of wine from the walk-in, glass, wine cellar. He grabbed two wine glasses and placed them on the counter. "Wine for the Mrs?" He said jokingly. He still couldn't get over having a wife-to-be.

Carmen felt like she could stand and looked out the window for the rest of her life without getting bored. She could see some people on the beach and the water stretched out as far as the eye could see. Compared to what it had been like at his parents house, she felt much calmer here and certainly more relaxed. Glancing over her shoulder, she nodded in response to his question before taking one last glance at the sea. Turning, she walked over to where he was leaning against the counter and took one of the glasses, holding it in her hand for a moment. "This is going to take some serious getting used to," she said, motioning around herself, "That and marriage and now having two extremely controlling mothers in my life," she said with a weak laugh. That was something she could think of later, she was here with Charles and it was their chance to be alone. "I just wanted to say thank you for having my back at dinner. It get a bit difficult to speak in my house sometimes," she admitted, looking up at him with a half smile on her face. It happened so much that she now just brushed it off. "To ... marriage?" she asked before laughing a little as she held out her glass of wine for him to clink his glass against her own before she took a sip of the red liquid. It tasted expensive and she savoured the taste before going back for another sip.

Alex was glad that Ayah had asked his mother to clarify, hopefully she was beginning to see the pitfalls that his mother was constantly setting up. If not, he'd certainly teach her and help her to find the warning signs. He started eating his dinner, it was enjoyable and it tasted like it came out a restaurant but because it wasn't what he had been craving it didn't hit the right spot. "Your hobbies or what you do in your free time dear," his mother answered politely with a smile of her own in her direction. Alex kept eating his dinner but kept his ears open for her answer and was ready to pounce back if any of the parents came for her. She'd spoke about wanting to go to law school and she'd been brought down about that. Now he had a feeling that no matter what answer she gave to this question his mother would find fault in it too. She couldn't win and Alex had nearly had enough of this dinner. He was plotting how they would make their escape as soon as she was finished eating since he had inhaled his food and she currently sipping on the scotch, shaking his head when the waiter asked if he wanted another.

Ayah tried her hardest to take another bite. Even though it was delicious, her nervousness was curbing her appetite. She glanced up and smiled at everyone at the table before answering. Ayah hated questions like this because she never really felt like had found what her true passions and hobbies were besides shopping and hanging out with her friends. She didn't want to admit to being a shopaholic because she thought it would raise a red flag for them. Ayah took a sip of wine and finally began to speak, "I am a mentor for a program for young ladies, and I would like to branch off and start my own, eventually." Ayah took another sip of wine then began to speak again, "I also like to design and make my own clothing." A smile crept on her face when she mentioned her love for fashion. She had designed the gown she was wearing. She hoped that his mother approved of it because she has always gotten compliments about her design work. Ayah was always hesitant to admit her love for designing because she thought that many people, especially her father, did not approve of that as a profession. Ayah's mother, Janice smiled at her daughter, although it wasn't an answer that she would've given, she was satisfied with Ayah's response. "Ayah actually designed the gown she has on." Janice said proudly. The tailoring of the gown was magnificent and she knew her daughter could have a future in fashion if she changed her mind about Law School.

Charles flashed his dimple and raised his glass in the air. "To marriage." He said playfully but he meant it. He was happy that they were able to have quality time with one another after the shit show that happened at dinner. "No need to thank me, It was the right thing to do. Besides, I think that it is one of my husband duties, right?" He teased. He took a small sip of the wine and grabbed Carmen's hand. "Welcome to my MTV crib, are you ready for a tour?" He let go of her hand and began to laugh hysterically at himself. Once he was finished, he held her hand as he escorted her through the long hallway. "Which would like to see first? My room or your room?" He playfully said. He wanted to establish that they were going to sleep in separate rooms, unless she was interested in sleeping in the same room with him. He wanted to make sure she was comfortable before they were sleeping in the same room together. Before they made it the bedrooms, Charles stopped in front of a bathroom. He flipped the light switch on the wall, and led Carmen into it the fancy restroom. The bathroom had the same marble as the kitchen. The mirror in the bathroom was huge and had its own LED light, so there was no need for an actual light fixture. This bathroom was the smallest one in the penthouse but it was still a good size. He smiled over at Carmen, hoping that she approved of it.

Alex smiled at her answer, she'd only told him about liking to shop. She'd neglected to mention that she designed clothes, even the dress she was wearing. He'd have thought it was from designer label when he first saw it. Perhaps if the law career didn't work out, she could pick that up instead? It was always good to have more than one option. His mother raised an eyebrow as she peered forward a little to get a better look at the gown that Ayah was wearing. It was a very pretty blush colour and the tailoring was magnificent, she would have thought it had been from a top-brand fashion designer or something. She smiled at Ayah, happy with the response she was given. Fashion was something her mother liked too so perhaps they could bond over it. "So I'm presuming you have many ideas for your wedding dress?" she asked her as she lifted up her glass of wine and took a sip from it. Alex was looking across at Ayah and was actually glad the dinner was going quite smoothly. It could have been a lot worse than this but he just wanted to get out of here, although mostly he just wanted out of this suit he hated wearing them. When everyone was finished eating, he stood up from his chair slowly, causing heads to turn to him, "Sorry, I was just going to suggest I show Ayah around a little bit more? Perhaps take a stroll around the gardens?" he asked, as he walked down the length of the table to where she was sat, holding his hand out to her. His mother made a unapproving noise but didn't say anything but either way Alex ignored her as he looked down at Ayah, hoping she would agree.

Carmen laughed at Charles, finding his sense of humour a breath of fresh air. She thought they were quite similar in that capacity, able to find the humour in these types of situations. "Lead the way," she encouraged him as he took her hand and led her down the hallway. She took a sip from the glass of wine as they walked, allowing her eyes to fall on the art work across the wall. That was one thing she was super excited about, being able to finally afford pieces of art that she'd never dreamed of being able to own in her lifetime. A few of the pieces were questionable and she'd probably ask to swap them out. He then stopped at a room and she walked into a grand bathroom with a huge ass mirror and a Jacuzzi bath tub, "Is this my bathroom?" she asked him, glancing around. It all looked so extravagant and everything was just so much bigger. She caught sight of the both of them in the mirror standing together and she met his eyes in the mirror with a smile, "We actually look quite good together," she said teasingly to him with a laugh. Lifting the glass to her lips to take another sip she turned to look at him, "Okay I want to see my room please," she said to him. That was one thing she was glad about. She wouldn't mind sharing a bed with him once they got to know each other a little more but she was glad that for the time being she'd have her own room and her own space.

lol, i totally forgot that i said she was wearing the dress her mother wore.... ooops! my bad. we can just go with her being a designer/law student.
---
Ayah stood awkwardly between Alex and his mother. She wanted to go back to the gardens but she didn't want to be deemed as rude. Oh well, fuck it. Ayah faked a smile, "This dinner was lovely, I'll start designing my dress as soon as I get home! But I know for sure that it will be a mermaid styled dress." She said politely. Ayah noticed that her parents were both glaring at her but she didn't care. She was ready to bail out of this dinner. Ayah turned around towards Alexander and placed her hand into his. She followed behind him as he lead the way back towards the gardens. Ayah was a little overwhelmed with how fast everything was going. She couldn't believe that his mother wanted them to be married by summer. That gave them three months at most to plan and get everything together. "Your mother doesn't waste any time, huh?" She teased as she began to take in the view. The sun was beginning to set and it made the gardens look much more majestic that they had earlier. "This is so beautiful. Thank you for bargaining to have it here." Ayah said with a chuckle. Ayah was happy that Alexander ended the dinner abruptly because she didn't know if things would've took a turn for the worst but she wasn't willing to wait to find out.

Charles smiled at the two of them in the mirror. "I guess we don't look too bad together." He playfully retorted. He agreed that the two of the looked phenomenal together but he didn't want to seem super overjoyed about them just yet. He thought that would be extremely weird, although he was developing feelings for her. He laughed a bit before turning off the lights and leading Carmen to the guest room. They turned right at the end of the hallway and there was a huge glass door. Charles held the door open for Carmen. Inside of the room, there was the same glass windows that were in the living room that took up the entire wall. There was a projector screen on the other wall with two white, luxury, sofa chairs in front of it. There was a matching coffee table in between the chairs. The room also had plenty of green plants to compliment the black, white and gold theme of the room. Further inside, was Carmen's queen sized bed. The bed had enough pillows for three people. Charles interior designer had gotten a little carried away but he didn't protest at the time. There was a marble night stand on each side of the bed and on top of them were gold lamps. There was also a small, black bench in front of the bed. He hoped that Carmen liked the room. It was a bit much but Carmen would be able to have her own space. There was also a walk in closet and bathroom but before showing her, Charles stopped walking and waited for her reaction. "Do you like it? If not, we can call an interior designer tomorrow to help you transform the room into whatever the hell you'd like." He smiled a bit before looking down at his phone. One of his old friends with benefits tried calling but he quickly denied the call. He hoped that Carmen didn't notice. He did not want to ruin the moment between the two of them.

it's alright haha! i was just going with the flow! :)

Alex smiled when she agreed to come with him, placing her hand in his own. He'd just about had enough of hearing his mothers voice and couldn't stand it a minute further. Plus he felt like he still barely knew anything about Ayah considering most of their time had been taken up by the obnoxious dinner. He led her towards the back of the home again, his hand still clutching her own as he walked down the steps with her and back into the gardens. He laughed as she spoke, letting go over hand even though he didn't want to, "Yeah she likes to be prepared," he agreed with her. He also felt like he should apologise for her behaviour too, "Also I'm sorry for her comments and questions, she thinks she's being polite but in reality that's what you get," he told her with a shake of his head. He was going to say something else about her own parents but decided against it since it wasn't his place to say anything just yet. They reached the fountain again and there was a small bench just to the side which he led her over to, taking a seat, "I had a feeling you really liked the gardens and although Tuscany is beautiful I'd rather you have the ceremony somewhere you really liked," he told her with a nod of his head. It was getting a little chillier now that the sun was setting so he shrugged off the suit jacket and draped it over her shoulders for warmth, "You know when you said shopping I didn't realise you meant actually designing your clothes too," he said to her teasingly, a smile playing on his lips.

Carmen thanked Charles as he held the door open for her and she walked inside, what would soon be, her room. The windows were the exact same as in the living room and she couldn't wait to set up her easel and start painting. It was just so beautiful. The furniture was tasteful and classy and the colour scheme wasn't too over whelming either. Plus there were a tonne of plants which was something she liked having, her bedroom back home was very bohemian in style so she'd be bringing some of her own plants along with her. She walked in a little further, turning her head finally to speak to Charles when she noticed his phone had rang, "You could've answered, I don't mind," she told him with a smile. "I really like it .. the only thing I'd suggest is maybe some more pillows? I don't think I've got quite enough," she teased gently, not being able to hold her laugh in. There was an obnoxious amount of pillows and she could see herself just collapsing on them and disappearing for the night. She then spotted another door and walked towards it, thinking it would be her bathroom or something. But she was met with something else entirely. It was a walk in wardrobe and her eyes widened, "I've always wanted one of these!" she said excitedly, walking in as she looked at countless number of shelves and all the racks that were empty, "I mean I don't enough clothes to fill it but that's not the point."

Ayah smiled as they made their way to the bench. "I'm sorry for the way my parents' behaved as well. They always know how to humiliate me. I felt like I was getting sold to the highest bidder." Ayah chuckled a bit, using humor to cope with how she really felt. Ayah sat down next to Alexander but kept a little room between the two. She was happy when he placed his suit jacket over her shoulders. Even though she wasn't too cold, she was appreciative of the small gesture. Ayah noticed that Alexander was a little more talkative now and she assumed it was because they had finally warmed up to one another. The overwhelming view of the gardens was a bit distracting to Ayah. Ayah was beginning to get lost in her thoughts whilst Alexander was still trying to make conversation. After a few moments of awkward silence, Ayah looked over to Alexander and placed her hand in his and shook her head. "I'm sorry, I just got lost in my thoughts for a second." She said with a small chuckle. She gently squeezed his hand a bit, she was a little nervous to open up all the way to him. What if he didn't like her and she had to be stuck with him forever? "Yeah, I really like it out here. It's very soothing. I wouldn't mind having one of my own, much smaller of course." Ayah chuckled a bit before making eye contact with Alexander. She felt butterflies all over again. "And, Sorry I didn't go into too much depth about shopping and designing. I always have to keep a trick up my sleeve." Ayah laughed a bit at herself. It was true, she didn't want to show every side of herself so soon because she was afraid of Alexander using her weaknesses against her. Ayah had trust issues because she never felt like she really knew anyone's true motives.

Charles faintly smiled at Carmen. If she knew who was calling, he was sure that she wouldn't have felt the same way. Charles quickly blocked the number, in fear that the woman was going to call back. Although Carmen and Charles weren't together yet, Charles did not want continue to act as if he was still single. He planned on respecting Carmen as his wife, whether they were intimate or not. Charles did not want to mess up what good chemistry they seemed to already have. Charles finally put his phone away and smiled at Carmen. "Yeah, I figured you want more pillows." Once Carmen made it to the closet, he smiled at her reaction. Carmen's excitement was contagious and put a huge grin on Charles face. He was happy that she was overjoyed with her space. He wanted to make this transition as easy as possible for her. "When you move in, I'll give you my card so you can began to fill it up." He then began to walk towards the other door. "But wait, there's more!" He joked a bit before opening the door and revealing the massive bathroom. It was even bigger than the one down the hall. The bathroom had the same mirror and jacuzzi tub, but it also had a separate shower with a huge shower head coming from the ceiling. The shower also had a small bench and built in speakers so you could play music.

Alexander noticed how she seemed to just go off into her own little world for a few moments whilst he was chatting her ear off. Surely he didn't talk that much? Maybe he'd have to reign it in a little so as to not make her feel too uncomfortable. Although a moment later she reached over to take his hand and he gave her a small smile, "Don't apologise I know it can be very overwhelming here," he told her. He was basing it off of past girlfriends that he had brought home but he wasn't going to tell her that. His sole focus was now on Ayah and making sure this marriage worked out because they'd be living with each other for the rest of their lives now. He noted that she wanted a garden of her own and although it would probably be a bit of struggle to make it work with his apartment, he was determined to make it work. Nothing would be too much of a struggle if he showed the right amount of money. She met his eyes and he found a smile form over his lips, "I like it ... it's like treasure hunt and I keep finding new little things out about you at every point," he said with a laugh. He let his thumb stroke the top of her hand ever so slowly as he thought for a moment, "Do you think I talk too much?" he asked, almost a little abruptly. He wanted to know her opinion because it was one he respected and if it was something that made her feel uncomfortable he would try to work on shutting up.

Carmen was about to protest when he said that he would give her his credit card and she could start buying more clothes. She wasn't sure if it sat right with her, using his money for her own benefit but that was something she could explore later. She followed behind him into the bathroom and she let out a weak laugh, "No way," she said with a shake of her head as she spun around to take in every inch of the bathroom. It was just so unbelievable that this was going to be her room and her bathroom. Although she had a feeling that Charles' would be even more extravagant than this one since she was guessing this was an extra bedroom. "I keep thinking it can't get better and you just keep taking it up another level," she said with a shake of her head, walking back out into the bedroom. Charles made her feel extremely comfortable and she had a feeling the amount of alcohol they'd had to drink that evening was to blame as well. But she sat on the bed, testing it out before she fell back onto her back just allowing herself to stare at the ceiling for a moment. "This is amazing," she said out loud before propping herself up on her elbows so she could look across at him. "What is your room like? Surely it can't be better than this?" she asked with a raised eyebrow. She had a feeling that from now on her life would be full of unexpected surprises. When she felt like she had seen the best, there was always going to be something else waiting behind the scenes.
