Alex picked up his glass of scotch and took another sip as her father spoke to him and he wasn't going to lie, he nearly choked on the scotch. What kind of a question was that? Like she was some kind of property and not a human being. He blinked, gathering his thoughts and trying his best to find something to say that wasn't laced with anger. But then her mother also spoke up and his eyes flicked to her to and he literally couldn't believe his ears. He knew the marriage was to seal the joining of the companies but that didn't mean he'd own Ayah like his father would own the new business. "No offence sir, but I think that's quite a tasteless question to ask," he said first and he could feel the glare of his mother, her eyes burning holes into the side of his head but he continued anyway. "I'd already assumed that Ayah was capable of doing whatever she pleased and that will still be the case when we get married. There are no expectations of her from myself or my parents," he told them both. He wanted to get those words out there so his parents knew his position on the whole matter too. He couldn't control Ayah even if he wanted to. She was a head-strong girl and he liked that. He wanted a partner that would stand by his side, not behind him. "Of course children would be one expectation," his mother said with a smile and Alex rolled his eyes as he clenched his jaw. "Mother please, enough talk of children. You'll all know as soon as it happens," he told her tightly, praising the lord when he saw the waiters come out with the plates of food. "So Ayah, what are you interested in?" his mother continued to grill her at the dinner table as Alex picked up his knife and fork and began to eat.
Carmen felt her heart jump into her throat when he introduced her as 'Mrs Wright.' It did have a certain ring to it that she liked but it still made her feel weird. She smiled at the attendent, "It's lovely to meet you too," she paused for a moment as she looked at his name badge before back to his eyes, "Andre," she finished with name. He looked nervous of Charles and she couldn't help but to wonder why. Perhaps it would come out later. They got into the glass elevator and Carmen felt like freaking out over all of this but she kept her cool. There were celebs that would be living in their building too, "I knew I recognised him. He's in those mission impossible films!" she exclaimed with a light laugh. Maybe she'd catch sight of more celebrities the longer they stayed here. She followed behind him and stood just behind him as he unlocked the door, smiling at his words and how he chose the word our. Nodding her head silently, she stepped inside and her jaw physically dropped, she couldn't help it. Not only was the place huge but it was tasteful and everything was just gleaming. She didn't even know where to go first. She wandered to the side, looking at the kitchen, letting her finger trail across the island gently as she looked at the sleek marble tops and the low lighting. Her feet then carried over to the windows which were ceiling to floor and she looked out at the view, shaking her head, "Wow, just ... wow," she said, not being able to say much else as she watched the sun glisten over the sea. This was her new home and she couldn't quite believe it.
