Nicolas stood slowly, in a daze. He looked around as he placed a hand over his abdomen, feeling it soaked with blood. Nicolas coughed and winced in pain, before wandering around the rubble, looking for any signs of his best friend. Nicolas noticed a teacher speaking to a boy with ginger hair a few feet away, and limped over as fast as he could. The rubble slipped from under his feet, alerting the teacher and the boy. Nicolas smiled as the boy was indeed Oliver.
Oliver sprung up, ignore the pains in his body and the blood all over the two of them, he hugged Nicolas, but was careful to not hurt him. The teacher separates them so she can look at Nicolas's wounds. Oliver peered over the teacher's shoulder, and saw something horrifying. It was a man, but not a human one. His face drained of color as he stared at the man, who suddenly vanished. Oliver's head started to throb with pain and he slapped his hand to his forehead as he groaned. Oliver hadn't noticed it before, but every person he saw had almost a colored outline. Oliver had heard about auras, and how they were explained, and this is what he had always imagined. But now he was seeing it.
"Can the ambulances come any faster? Please?!" Nicolas suddenly burst into tears, as he stared off into the distance. The teacher was trying to bandage Nicolas's large cut, but it was difficult when he was heaving and moving around so much. "Please, can you tell them to hurry! Something bad is going to happen... something really bad" Nicolas was still staring at nothing in particular.
"Nico, what's going to happen? What do you see?" Oliver stared into Nicolas's eyes, trying to understand what Nicolas was feeling. Nicolas just shook his head, leaving Oliver to his own thoughts. Oliver looked around at the rubble, and the fallen buildings, vehicles, and corpses all around him. Oliver kept seeing people like that weird man, they looked so human but not, Translucent, almost. Oliver noticed whispers, that nobody else heard. They were jumbled, multiple voices at once. Oliver clasped his hands over his ears in a desperate attempt to mute the whispers. Something was wrong. Very wrong.
