Kenna

It was afternoon when Kenna was still fighting outside the walls of the castle. The silver of her clothes reflected the setting sun, so did her eyes. And her sword which crashed against Jasons'. With only a few steps she had the grip of his sword in her hand, laughing triumphantly. "You've gotten stronger, I must admit." Slowly she let the blade which she had hold against his throat down and put it in its sheath. "But not strong enough to beat me." His beautiful brown eyes shone at her as she sank down to the grass, admiring the view of the cities around the castle. Oh how much she wished she could just be a normal person and go there. But she was destined for something bigger. Destined to become queen. Hopefully not that early, her mother was the only one she had, and she didn't want to lose her at all costs.
A little sigh came out of her mouth as she leaned against Jason, sitting next to her. "Why are things so complicated, J? You know, sometimes I wish I could just go undercover. To a festival, where everyone drinks ale and the women kiss everyone they desire." She chuckled. Then her face turned sad again. "But my first kiss will probably be a contract thing. Gross." A little moment of silence. "Hey, my mother arranged a prom tonight. Will you come, too? For me?"

Jason was fighting with Kenna. Not for real ofcourse, Kenna gave him lessons in fighting. He liked it, it gave him confidence. He fought harder and harder every day. He was just a normal boy with his own boy dreams. He wanted to fight as good as Kenna. Be like her. Kenna stopped fighting and she sat down on the grass. Jason came sitting next to her. He held her hand. He liked the view of the castles. It gave him a feeling of hope. Hope his life could change once. His situation at home was horrible. These castles gave him hope.
Then Kenna started to talk. Did he hear it good. Did she ask if he wanted to come to the ball tonight. He thought deeply.
He couldn't. Kenna's mother didn't like him that much. 'I don't know if that is a good idea', he said softly, 'you know your mother.'
Jason heard a deep sigh next to him. Then he gave her a kiss on her hand.

Kenna

The kiss let her skin feeling tingly as she lifted her head up to look into his eyes. "Please. Jason, you haven't been to any of my proms. Ever. It's even a masquerade ball, so nobody will recognize you." Carefully she covered his hand with both of hers, warming them up a bit, concerning the growing cold of the night. "I'm even begging you. Can you disobey the begging of a future queen?", she said, a little smirk on her face. Kenna definitely wanted to spend more time with him, but her bodyguard Gabriel came running down the hill. "Miss Kenna! Your mother is looking for you! You have to get ready for the prom."
She rolled her eyes, slowly standing up. "Ugh, dresses, hairdos. Anyways, I'm expecting you tonight. I'll be wearing the gold gown, so that you can meet me." As he stood up, she had to stand on her tiptoes to give him a kiss on the cheek. She was right. It was complicated. Love. Was there even something like that for her? She knew she would marry some rude guy, just because her kingdom owed his one. Still, she wanted to persist. But was there even a point in that? Walking next to Gabriel, she thought of her father. Her mother always told her, that she was exactly like him, stubborn, determined. Why'd he have to go?
But her thoughts were cancelled when her mother looked at her, half angry, half worried. "How often do I have to tell you not to leave the walls?" "Mother..." She raised her hand. "Later. Now you have to get ready. Hurry up, our first guests are going to be here soon." And so, unwillingly she forced herself into the tight gown, let everything do with her. But all the time, she was hoping, Jason would come.

When Kenna walks away with her bodyguard she seems very irritated. He knows what it is. She doesn't like the castle and everything around it. But he doesn't like his life either. Then he thinks back about what Kenna said just before she left. It's a masquerade ball. This is his chance! If they allow him to let him go, he will do this. And offcourse when he is brave enough and has a good outfit.

When Jason got home the house seemed quiet. He shouted for his grandfather. Nothing. Then he shouted for his father, but again no answer. Normally spoken they just would appear by one single noise if they were home He went upstairs, when he was there he heard it. His older brother was playing a wargame. Jason shook his head. 'Why on Earth can't home be normal,' he said bitterly. His brother stopped the game. He shouted at Jason: 'You stupid, you know how things go. I need my game, grandpa needs his rest and tv. Papa needs his friends and his old tricks. You know why we have such a good home, so stop arguing. Everyone is doing their best. Everyone but you. You just work and further you do nothing. You aren't even talented. So go away!'
Jaso knew this was coming. Every few days it was the same. There was always something he didn't do good. And who did care for all the bookhold, police and social security. It was him, it always was. 'Luke, please don't be so anxious. Everything will be fine.'
He walked already out of the room, but then Luke started to shout again: 'stop, you can't go. You have to go out with father and me tonight. We have to solve things.'
Jason walked away without saying anything, he was anxious. If he didn't care about his grandfather and he hadn't promised anything to his mother, he had allready moved out. But now he couldn't. He was afraid he had to give up everything. But not as fast as father and Luke wanted.

Kenna

There she was, staring at her own reflection, disgusted by what she was seeing. The expensive material of her gown fell to the ground as if it was liquid and sparkled amazingly. Every other woman would kill for this. But Kenna was not every other woman.
She stretched, trying to get at least a bit of air through the corset when Gabriel entered the room. "You look beautiful, Mylady", the old man said admiringly and handed her the gold mask. It had jewels and pearls all over it. Forcing herself, she took the gold ribbons and put the mask around her head, hiding her personality. Even though it might be obvious who would be standing in front of a stranger, concerning she was wearing her crown. But she didn't know how many princesses were going to come. "You know your mother has invited many princes who aren't engaged yet?" Gabriel's words threw her back to reality. "May be. Should I care about that?" Her heels clacked on the ground as she walked towards the ball room. "What I'm trying to say is that you should consider getting married, Miss Kenna." She stopped, trying to hold back her fury. "Yeah, but for that I have to fall in love first." Gabriel sighed, wrinkles showed up on his forehead. "Look, this isn't about love. It is about the safety of our kingdom. It should be your highest duty." She clenched her fist. "I'm not going to discuss that with you again." And so she entered the ball room, where the music was already playing and people were talking, drinking wine and dancing. Now: Where was Jason?

When father and Luke told him the plan he was overhwelmed. They wanted to steal from the royal family! From his Kenna! He couldn't believe this. How could he ever steal from her? He didn't want to betray her. 'I'm not good at stealing,' he said trying to convince them this plas was bad. Luke answered: 'Bro, you don't have to steal. We will do the dirty work and you only have to distract them.'
Jason thought about this for a second. He could warn Kenna and her family. He knew her family so it should be okay. He agreed with the plan.
The three got dressed in beautiful black customes. For Luke and father one with a hood on it.  It could go as a mask too. Jason got a black custome without a hood but he got a beautiful white mask with silver, blue and green lines. He liked the mask very much.

When the three came at the castle they took together the front door. 4 bodyguards were standing there. Gabriel was also there. Gabriel saw Jason and the two others. They did a very quick search of they hadn't any weapons. Then Gabriel nodded and they could go in. Luke and his father were gone very fast.
Jason started to talk to some people while he got himself a beer. Then he went to the dancing floor. He wanted to tell her about everything, but he couldn't find her
