I'm freeeeee from school this week, so naturally, I've got nothing to do (except study but we all know I'm not doing that), so I thought I might as well attempt starting a roleplay. But since the entire roleplay-community seemed to have partially died (with regards to long-term roleplays) I figured I'd lessen the pressure by making it a short-term one. A roleplay with a time limit, if you will.
The idea is basically that the roleplay will go on from tonight (or if we take a lot of time to assemble a solid group, maybe tomorrow night) to Sunday night. Not only do I hope this will make more people inclined to actually join in (cause it's not as much of a commitment) but it is also a way of making sure we all have a good timeline. I've seen and experienced that pacing is key to a successful roleplay, make sure something worth writing about is happening so people won't just give up cause it's boring.
Since it's Halloween soon, I thought the roleplay could revolve around this spOOKY holiday. I'm not too sure about the specifics, but I have a few ideas that play with different genres:
Fantasy
- A handful of teens throw a get-together on Halloween night. All dressed in costumes, they're having a blast until something strange happens. It causes them to all pass out, and when they wake up, they all feel different. They have all turned into the creatures they dressed up as... how will they ever break this curse?
(If the fantasy is a bit too childish an explanation could be that they somehow managed to ingest hallucinatory drugs of some sort).
Horror
- It's fall-break and the popular kids of the school decide to head up to a luxurious cabin in the woods to celebrate the festivities. But it all turns south when they realize they aren't alone in said cabin, and whoever's there doesn't seem to appreciate the company. Will they make it out alive?
Adventure-ish & sci-fi
- 2000 years from now, Halloween is a holiday not a single soul has ever heard about, so when a couple of time-travelers travel back to 2018 and find streets filled with people dressed as god-knows-what, they are, to put it mildly shocked. Despite this, they need to focus on their mission, save the future president from other, evil time travelers. The only problem is, that the future president is occupied at a house party, dressed up in a costume, making them unrecognizable for the poor time-travelers. Will they manage to find the president before the other, evil time-travelers do?
But, if you have any ideas of your own you'd like to share, feel free to.
I think that's it.
