Venus had been awake for a little while, but like always, she had stayed in her room for an hour or two to draw. Her room still smelled faintly of eau de Daniel, one of her favorite scents. Daniel was her current "boyfriend", which really meant the newest guy she called up when she was feeling an itch for excitement. He was a good looking guy, sure, but a hell of an asshole, unless he got what he wanted. With Venus, that didn't necessarily happen. She was a tough one, incredibly strong, but so...cold. Her eyes were a bright and icy blue with silver flecks, and with all the depth they may carry, they were chilling and empty and sort of...frightening. She was the intimidating kind of quiet, so sharp and harsh that you could fall apart just by walking in the same room with her if you didn't know her well enough. She wasn't fond of strangers, wasn't fond of people in general. But these people she lived with...they knew her for who she really was. They knew she wasn't the cold and heartless bitch she came off as, knew she had a heart, knew she was capable of love. But she had been so torn down in life, so used and tormented...she couldn't trust just anybody. She stood, her tight tank top riding up a little, silvery scars peeping out from underneath. She frowned at the light spilling into her room, shut the blinds with a quick pull of the string. Much better. She toyed with the string of her flannel pj pants, took up her drawing and pencils, and headed for the corridor, which contained an array of bedrooms and led to the living room.
Mason had strolled out of his room a bit earlier than usual. His outfit consisted of the norm for a Saturday morning at home: his old college sweats and no shirt, hands jammed in his pockets and his hair in an unkempt mess. Let's not forget the accompanying ache in his head, a nice little reminder of the previous night. He was the first one up, so he got himself a glass of juice from the kitchen and leaned down on the floor, switching on the television to some sports channel. All the good stuff was overrun by paid programming, which really just was a fancy way of saying hour and a half long commercials for even more worthless shit than you see on regular commercials. Venus strolled in just then, her usual scowl gracing her features. Such a shame. "Morning, V. You look awfully happy today." He chuckled as she rolled her eyes at him. Cassia came out next, not long afterward. Cassia was, unfortunately, his ex. They were still great friends, otherwise they'd probably not be living together, but they argued like an old married couple, all of the time. "Good morning." he said to her, and she greeted him. Now, Mason was a fun-loving guy. He partied most nights, loved a good laugh, and he was always happy and friendly. But whenever it came to Cassia, he got this awkward blend of anger and caring, some weird emotion he couldn't describe.
