Jenna’s hands glided against the keyboard of her computer quickly, her head calmly bobbing along to the sound that she had gotten so used to. It now relaxed her to type endless emails, make faxes, print papers, and fill up on coffees. She wished, of course, to be able to work alongside the doctors and animals, but she knew her time would come. She just hoped it was sooner rather than later. And she had to admit, the moment someone was off call she was always called to the scene, even if there was someone available that had more credentials than she. But she supposed she owed that to Owen, her boss, and…well, she wasn’t quite sure what else she could describe him as. He was her friend, she guessed, and yet, at times she wanted to kill him and fantasized about ways of doing so. But she had agreed to go out to dinner with him the previous week, right before he flew off to the East Coast for a conference. He said he might miss his plane because of her, but that she was worth every minute he got delayed. But were they dating? She wasn’t quite sure. And she wouldn’t know until he returned from his trip. And to be honest, she wasn’t quite sure if she wanted to know. Was she ready for a relationship? Already? And that certainly wouldn’t look good on her resume. Dating her boss. She doubted her coworkers would treat her with very much respect either. They all already felt as if there was something going on between the two of them, and treated her harshly for it. Or at least, the female workers who wished for Owen’s attention did. Finishing up her paper, she hit sent and stood from her seat, deciding she was long due for a coffee break. She didn’t take many. Picking up her purse, she walked through the company’s building and made it toward the elevator. She knew there was coffee in the lounge, but to be honest, she was the one who prepared it each morning and knew just how bad it was. She’d trust Starbuck’s baristas over herself any day.

Jace nodded his head to the man who was speaking to him, but wasn’t at all aware of what he was saying. And that was wrong. He should know, he should be overly alert and analyzing the gentlemen’s body language and verbal gestures. And yet, he could very well be singing the Teletubbies theme song, and he wouldn’t notice. That was because he couldn’t get the picture of Jade out of his head. She accidently sent him a photo he wasn’t supposed to be the receiver of. Or at least, if he was, he had to give her props for originality. But he knew otherwise, that Jade wasn’t that kind of girl. She liked to play hard to get. She was a sweet, friendly girl, but always turned down his advances in the most polite way possible. Perhaps she wouldn’t let him done so easily if he hadn’t given her the job, but that was okay. He debated whether to mention the picture or not. Maybe she would bring it up with him? Burst into his office and confess how sorry she was for being unprofessional. Cry a little. He’d console her on his desk, rub her back and say everything would be okay. That it was an accident, and he didn’t respect her any less. But he doubted that would happen, he doubted she even knew he received the picture. Because when he greeted her this morning she hadn’t appeared embarrassed at all. “Yes, sir, that sounds perfect,” Jace finally blurted out, hoping the poor guy would shut up already. His face light up, and he extended his arm to him. “That’ll be all, Mr. Barker,” the man said, getting his suitcase and heading out the door. Success! If he knew it would be that easy he would have agreed a while ago. Now, what exactly did he agree to…?

lordy lordy this is the first one on one roleplay i've done since gsm circa 2010 i feel so old
---
Jade stood in line at the small cafe in the lobby of the building. She was debating whether or not to buy two delicious peach danishes, one for Jace as she had been asked but also one for herself. It was approaching noon and she hadn't had anything to eat all day, after having to sprint from her apartment over to the building to arrive earlier than usual. She knew that today was a big day for some of Jace's deals with smaller companies and she wanted to make sure that everything was in place for him to knock these important deals out of the park. She wasn't the girl to go out of her way to catch his attention, that was the job for the other girls that strutted down the hall in their smutty hiked-up pencil skirts and slinky heels, but she was aware that her ambition to go above and beyond might benefit her in the long haul. Once she finally made it through the line, she went with her gut and bought a danish for herself. She figured that she could eat it on her way back up to his office, that he would never know what she had done. She grabbed Jace's coffee and a few napkins and began her trek to the ninth floor. She arrived at the elevator and slid inside, caught between a cluster of businessmen and a few students that she recognized from her college. The ride was shorter than usual, which caught her off guard due to the mass amount of people. It wasn't until she got to her designated floor that she realized a few things: one, they were all getting out behind her and she had to move quickly to avoid a stampede; and two, she hadn't begun to eat any of her danish. As she quickly maneuvered down the hall, she shoved bites of the danish into her mouth as quickly as she could. Unfortunately, she was unable to make it to Jace's office without evidence of the glazed pastry. Before she knew what was going on, she ran straight into Jace's chest, spilling his coffee all over her shirt and smashing his danish into his suit jacket. She nearly fell over in the process. Jade looked up into his eyes as hers widened, still in shock as to what had just happened. There went her chances of ever being more than an intern...

Owen picked up his cell phone as he walked down the airport terminal. He fumbled in his pockets to check for cash as he dialed his assistant's number. To his dismay, the chairman that was to lead the conference on integrating social media into business marketing was suddenly struck down with the flu. The other leaders at the conference asked Owen to step in to Mr. Harris' shoes, an offer that he couldn't refuse but wanted so badly to avoid. Although he was highly informed on the topic and a large fan of Mr. Harris' work, he had an irrational fear of public speaking, especially in front of many well to-do business executives that were expecting a speech of utmost quality. He was only given hours to prepare and went into the conference room without a clue as to how to perform. At the end of the day, he had given himself a failing grade. He noticed many of the executives opting to use social media during the speech, rather than to learn more about the increasingly popular technology. Owen left the conference in a bad mood, thoroughly upset that the other members of the event hadn't been the slightest bit considerate for the fact that so much was expected of him with such little to go off of. As he waited for his assistant to pick up, he pulled at his tie and loosened his shirt. "Hey, put me through to Jenna's cell phone, would you?" he asked, taking a seat across from an airline kiosk. He waited for a few moments before she finally answered. "Hey, I have a big favor to ask of you," he said to her. He took in a deep breath before he spoke again. "I forgot to call for a cab to pick me up and I can't just walk out and get into a taxi, not with everything that's been going on lately. Would you mind coming to pick me up? I'm over at McCarran International, it's only a few minutes' drive from the building." He finally found the cash in his pocket and walked over to grab a bottle of water and a snack at one of the small stores inside the airport. He adjusted the straps of the backpack he was carrying as he walked up to the line. "I have to pick up my luggage yet before I can head out," he added, realizing he'd failed to make it to the conveyor belt before doing anything else.

Jenna pushed the ground button once getting in the elevator and made her way down, her heels clicking as she did so. Just as she was about to exit the building and head toward the coffee shop, her phone rang in her purse. Opening it up, she read her caller ID and realized it was none other than Owen calling her. Right when she was about to buy coffee and relax herself. Sighing slightly, she flipped open her phone and pressed it to her ear. "Hello?" She said, but Owen was already off asking her for a favor. Which she didn't mind, to be honest. She was only an intern, after all, and being pissed off at her boss asking her for favors would probably make her the worst in the business. It was just a bit interesting  how he asked her out of all his other interns to pick him up. Then again, there was the dinner from the previous week. She supposed they had broken through that intern-boss relationship. "Of course, Owen, I'll be right over," she promised, shutting the phone shut and changing her direction. Sweet Starbucks' coffee, our meet and greet would have to wait for another day. She headed toward the parking lot, and came toward her car. Wincing as she slid inside the driver's seat, she realized it might be practical to stop and get it washed before Owen entered. It wasn't dirty in a disgusting way, just filled with magazines, empty perfume bottles, shopping bags, and shoes. Needless to say, she had a bit of a shopping problem. She supposed she could stuff everything in the back seat and hope he wouldn't notice. She began throwing her heels and other feminine items into the back. Once she was done, she started up the car and headed toward the airport. Not before turning on the radio and jamming along to Work, Bitch by Britney Spears. She  had to de-stress somehow, and Owen had managed to indirectly take her coffee away from her.

Jace sat back at his computer and began to type away at some emails he had attempted to ignore for a while. But it was time he got his head back in the game. Before he knew it, there would be people in his office much like the previous gentlemen trying to scam him. And he wouldn't even know it, because he'd have his head in the clouds. No, it was all about focus and determination. He had built his empire on his own, and wasn't about to let it crash and burn. His passion caused him to type on his keyboard harshly. He heard the door creak open, and his eyes lifted off the door and forward. They meet upon beautiful Jade, and all his determination and focus went out the window. "Here, let me help you with that," he offered, noticing her hands were filled. He stood from the chair and walked toward her, but poor Jade must have been awfully happy to see him because she came crashing into him. As did the hot coffee. He yelped loudly and ripped off his jacket. He began to unbutton his white shirt without thinking, not caring much. He really didn't want to have third degree burn at the moment. He started at his belt buckle, at then noticed Jade was present. "Oh, um, sorry about that," he began, realizing he was half naked. See what she did to him? Made him apologize for her spilling hot coffee on him. He didn't mind all that much, thought. He wasn't really fond of the suit anyway. "I'll page for someone to come and bring us some towels," he offered.

Yes! I think when I used to do one-liners I got to around page 35 with a girl once, something about a vampire roleplay that was probably the cruddiest thing you've ever seen. A-la-middle school, if you know what I'm saying.
---
Jade froze in place as coffee and confections landed on Jace, on herself, and on the floor. Her eyes widened in shock as reality hit her - she'd just made a mess all over her boss! He would never forgive her for this, especially on such a big day! She reached across his desk and grabbed a bunch of tissues in hopes of dabbing at his delicate suit and shirt before they had the chance to get completely ruined.  "I-it's all my fault," she said quickly, her apology flowing out what was most likely too little too late. She pulled back from dabbing with the Kleenex as he began to promptly strip himself as if he wasn't aware that she was in the room. She took a step backward and threw up her hands to cover her eyes, wondering if this was a test to see if she would try and sneak a peek. "For crying out loud," she mumbled as she lowered her hands, hearing him stop the ruffling of the fabric. "Towels," she said aloud finally, "yes. Those would be, um, very helpful." She turned her lips into a small smile, hoping to appear very apologetic. She wasn't sure why he felt the need to undress so quickly - once the initial burn of the coffee was done he very well could have managed to survive while keeping his expensive dress shirt in tact and on his torso. She turned her body and began to scan the walls for an item that she hadn't noticed before - something, anything that would keep her thoroughly flushed face from alternating between his sculpted body and his beautiful eyes. She finally managed to notice a certificate with his full name written in elaborate script across the top. University of Nevada Las Vegas and Jace Frederick Barker were the two items that caught her attention. He graduated from the same school she was attending and his middle name was Frederick?! She tried her best to stifle a laugh at what she had read, but when she turned around she found him bent over his desk as he tried to speak into the intercom. First his torso and now a full view of his behind? Did he want her to have an emotional breakdown today?

Owen made his way through the line and bought a treat for himself and one for Jenna. He knew that it was a big deal for him to ask her to come all the way out to pick him up, so he figured he may as well make it worth it to her. He then proceeded to grab his luggage from the pickup area and head out to the front of the airport. He waited anxiously for her to arrive and he breathed a sigh of relief when he saw her roll up to the valet line. He made sure he had all of his things together before he ran out to the car, opening the door so quickly he nearly ripped it off of the car frame. His eyes widened when he saw some of the clutter in the back seat. He decided not to say anything about it, simply for the lack of time. He found an empty spot on the seat and threw his things inside. He ran around to hop into the passenger's seat. He buckled up as she began to drive away. "Here, I got these for you," he said, "I hope you like airport food." He shrugged, placing a cup of her favorite cappuccino into the cup holder and extending a handful of cake pops in her direction. "I know you like these, and I do too, so if you don't feel like eating all of them I'd be more than happy to take them off of your hands." He smiled as she took one to snack on. He looked over and saw that her hair was more voluminous and shaken-up than usual, with her shoes kicked off and resting on the floor in front of her seat. "Were you dancing while you were driving, Jenna?" he asked her, trying his best to avoid letting out a chuckle. "Do I need to ask you what song was playing or is it better that it remains classified?" He glanced back out the windshield as they made the short drive back to the office building. "And by the way, thanks for coming out here to get me. I knew if I asked anyone else it would be like pulling teeth, they all make such a big deal out of the small stuff it seems like." They sat in silence for a few more minutes before they arrived at their destination. As they got out and he collected his things to head inside the building, he asked, "Do you have some time later to swing by my office? I think we need to discuss some things..."

yes i believe i filled up two of those forums once, back in 2006 when Jonas Brothers roleplays were all the rage. [winces]

Jenna pulled into the airport, her long, red fingernails tapping against the wheel as she hummed to the latest Rihanna song. When she was in the valet line, she lowered the volume of the radio, not wanting to embarrass herself or Owen. He wasn't hard to miss once she was finally in front of the door. He stood taller and broader than any of the guys coming out of the airport. Better dressed too. But he owed all that to his LA Fitness gym membership and rewards account with Express and Guess. Yes, she knew a lot of his personal details being his intern and all. Things that a girlfriend would know about her boyfriend...stop that. Stop thinking about him in that way. What, the guy asked you out to dinner and then asked you to pick him up from the airport and suddenly the two of you were an item? Um, probably not. She would have to keep her head clear, her mind clean. Otherwise she risked screwing up the best job she had in years. She would have to start from the bottom again. It was truly a blessing that she had met Owen, he really had opened countless doors for her. Their relationship wasn't worth complicating. She took a deep breath as he made his way toward her car. She motioned to pop the trunk open for him but it too late; he had already opened the backseat door and witnessed what she had tried so hard to conceal. Cursing under her breath, she decided to remain calm and act like it was no big deal. It could be worst, right? At least there weren't empty Coke cans and Lays chips bags. That would be so unattractive. Not that she had to look attractive in front of him or anything. It took her a few seconds before realizing that he was in fact in the passenger seat beside her and talking away. Now he was shoving a drink into her hand and offering her cake pops. God, she must be good at zoning out. "Thank you," she said, turning her attention to him and taking the food from his hands. "You really didn't have to," she said as she sipped the coffee and placed it in the cup holder. She took a quick bite out of the cake pop before starting up the car and pulling out of the airport. "Was I dancing?" She repeated, chuckling. "I might have been, you'll never know," she grinned. She drove him back to the building and parked in the parking lot. Once she had placed her key in her purse she turned toward him once more. "Swing by your office? No problem, what time would be good for you?" She asked, realizing he would probably be swarmed with important, business related things once he entered the office. It would probably be hours before he summoned her into his office. Not that she cared or anything.

The poor doll tried patting him down with napkins, but Jace was simply too fast for her. The damage was done, and she was left like a child attempting to cover her eyes from his half naked body. He began to chuckle, and debated whether to comment on her prude-like behavior or not. He decided against it, realizing it would simply make the situation more awkward than it already was. "Towels coming right up," he promised, and returned to his desk. He paged one of his other interns, Peggy, and told her to bring him some towels. "Yes, towels right to my room, Peggy, pronto please," he said, clicking it off once he was done. He turned to face Jade, who was still avoiding eye contact with him. What was the big deal? He knew she went to the beach and saw shirtless men all the time from the thorough Facebook stalking he had done on her a few weeks ago. But she didn't have to know about that. He made his way to the front of the desk and stood there, his arms leaning up against it. "Thanks for the coffee, by the way. It's the thought that counts," he jokes, a smile on his face. Anything to lighten up the mood here. The door suddenly swung open, and in walked in Peggy, heated towels pressed against her not so impressive bosom. "Here you go, Mr. Barker," she told him, her eyes widening as she realized he was shirtless. Ah,  the affect he had on these interns was quite amusing. Thought he would never place Jade in the same category as Peggy, who had more often than not crossed the boundaries between intern and boss. Her thin lips curled into a slight smile as she handed them to him. That flirtatious look in her face, however, disappeared when she noticed Jade was present in the room. Now the dynamic was different. Jace hadn't paged for Peggy to bring him warm towels while he was in distress and half naked. He had paged her when he was in distress and half naked with another female present, who he had initially stripped in front of. "Good day, Mr. Barker," Peggy said quickly, turning to face Jade," and Jace," she mumbled, walking out of the room. Her kitten heels made an annoying sound as she moved, or perhaps it was just how turned off he was by her presence. "Damn, she can be cold, can't she? And how many times do I have to tell her I prefer to be called by my first name?" He chuckled as he handed her one of the towels.

Oh my lord don't even get me started on the jo bros
Me and my sister were obsessed with them and with Aly & AJ
---
Jade did her best to maintain her composure while Peggy was in the room. The two of them weren't exactly the best of friends; after being admitted into the program, they'd taken completely different routes because of their contrasting worth ethics and it showed constantly. While Peggy wasn't particularly good at anything and was used to mooching off of others' work, Jade was known for taking the initiative to go beyond exactly what was expected of her. The two were as different as night and day. Peggy made it her life goal to impress Jace with her every breath, which was something that she probably shouldn't have done, considering she didn't have much to bring to the table. She took the towel that Jace offered her with a polite thank-you. "Did you notice how she didn't even look in your general direction as soon as she noticed that I was in the room?" she commented, wiping at the bottom of her shirt with the hand towel.  They shared a laugh together but then Jade frowned. "Sorry, it's not like me to poke fun at people that are here for the same reason as I am. My apologies." She pursed her lips. noticing that he had made no external effort to clothe himself now that he'd been patted dry from the coffee that had been slowly drifting down his chest. "And you're welcome for the coffee, by the way," she added, dusting some frosting off of her sleeve, "I know that you look forward to it at lunch time every day so I figured I would pitch in. I was surprised to find that someone in the building dislikes the caffeine withdrawal as much as I do, that much was astounding." She shrugged her shoulders and took a glance at the clock on Jace's desk, noticing that a good half-hour had passed since she'd left her desk. "I guess I better get going, I've got a lot of paperwork to catch up on so that you're prepared for the evening. Also, congratulations on the agreement with NewNev Technologies, I'll be updating our website with the news before I leave today!" She smiled as she went to exit the room. "Goodbye, Mr. Bark - Jace."

Owen smiled a little bit as he noticed another indicator that Jenna had been jamming out to the radio. Her blouse had slipped off of her right shoulder and was revealing some of her evenly tanned flesh, something that he wasn't used to seeing of her. He had no doubt that the clothing adjustment was not on purpose as he knew that she was usually so put-together and well dressed, a characteristic that he, too, consistently strove to achieve. He needed to stop thinking about her in such a way - for crying out loud, she was revealing a bit of her shoulder, it's not like she had taken her top off! A part of him wondered why he had such feelings for her. Yes, they'd gone out to dinner together and spent the evening in each other's company but they hadn't intended to call up the courts for a marriage certificate any time soon. Where their relationship stood, he wasn't exactly sure. As they walked, he pulled out his phone to check his schedule but instantly shook his head. "Ah, I forgot! I don't have anything officially on my schedule, I made sure that nothing was carved in stone until I was supposed to come back a few days from now." He slipped his phone back into his pocket as they walked into the lobby. He was greeted by a number of people, mostly with a chorus of "Owen! Glad to have you back!" and a large number of long-distance waving of hands. "If you have the time to do so, I'd like you to come upstairs with me right away." He turned to look at her and smiled, "I hope it's not too much to ask, of course." Not giving her the chance to decide, he began walking down the hall to hop on the elevator and was glad when he noticed her following him along. "Have you ever been in my office? I don't think you have," he commented as they rode up to his floor. It then occurred to him how they were alone in the elevator, a particularly uncommon phenomenon in the building. Yes, he was aware of what this meant in all of the chick-flick movies and such that he'd been forced into watching, having grown up with four older sisters. The two entered his office and he shut the door behind him. "Have a seat," he told her as he took off his suit jacket and draped it across his desk chair. He took a seat opposite her at his desk. "I'm going to be frank, here," he said, "and I expect you to be, too. Do you have feelings for me, Miss Sparks?"

bro i am still an Aly and AJ fan, those girls had talent! or maybe i just can't let go.

Jenna raised an eyebrow as she followed him into the building. Instantly they were swarmed with people, and the men that swarmed them were giving her a different kind of approving look than the one they usually did. As for the ladies, they were still glaring, but with much more intensity. All because Owen was at her side, and it was obvious that she had been chosen to pick up their boss from the airport. Honestly, at times it felt more like the office was one of those trashy VH1 reality dating shoes, all of them competing for Owen's affection. Was it good that she was in the lead? Only time will tell. "God, you're so popular," she joked, stepping into the elevator with him and being momentarily astonished when no one stepped inside after them. They were alone in the elevator; a perfect scene for a chick-flick movie embrace, as well as a dirty porno. She shuddered at the thought and straightened her stance as she realized he was telling her to come to his office now. "Right now?" She asked, a bit surprised. But she found herself nodding, and Owen smiling down at her. His face was crafted so perfectly it amazed her why his face wasn't on the company's logo. "Right away then, boss," she grinned as they stepped out of the elevator together and headed toward his office. He opened the door and walked inside before her, and she sat down on the seat opposing his desk. He took a seat on his own large, leather big-important-man chair and faced her. What came out of his mouth then shocked her to be honest. She wasn't expecting him to be that blunt. "Do I have feelings for you, Mr. Thatcher?" She repeated, her blue eyes wide. Her heart raced in her chest, and she felt her hands clam up. She hadn't mentally prepared for this, and her mouth was drying  up fast. "Why do you ask?" She said suddenly, turning the tables on him. Allow him to say something before she made a complete and utter fool of herself.

Jace laughed at Jade's smart remark and nodded in agreement. The envy Peggy carried for Jade was obvious to all. Hell, he's had male employees pile into his office gossiping about the two of them. A lot of the guys in the office actually found Peggy quite attractive. Why, he wasn't quite sure. Sure, everyone was entitled to their own opinion and all but come on. She wasn't ugly or anything; just your typical chick. Her skin remained the same shade of tan year round, no matter the weather. Her hair the same firetruck red color that honestly made him think of cherry flavored medicine. And she always wore obvious amounts of makeup; thick eyeliner, a strong, dramatic lip color. Her perfume reeked off of her, and her clothes were simply too tight for her body to hold. Jade, on the other hand, always managed to look put together while still keeping it classy. She wasn't one to always keep her makeup like a Catholic school girl's, at time she too would accentuate her features like the other female employees. But her beautiful face carried it so much better. When she did decide to go heavy on the eye makeup, particularly when it is black or grey, it's hard to keep himself from staring at her creepily. Her gorgeous green eyes made him stop in his track; he saw why her parents had named her Jade. Her hair was a chocolate brown with streaks of blond that weren't platinum and tacky, but matched her coloring perfectly. And her clothes were the perfect amount of sexy and professional. And now Jace knew what Jade liked to...um..keep under her garments as well, as the picture he had accidently received stated. He wondered who she meant to send it to...suddenly a thought clicked in his mind. He had assumed Jade sent it to one of her female friends as a joke, or to brag, or for whatever reason hot chicks enjoy sending risque pictures of themselves to each other. But what if he had been mistaken? What if the picture was actually meant to be sent to another male? Perhaps one of his employees?! Oh, he would kill the bastard! That's probably what it was, thought! He knew Jade wasn't girlfriends with any of the female employees at the company, and everyone technologically advanced had a business contact list saved on their phone. She had simply clicked on the wrong name in the list. It all made sense now. "Yeah, I'm a big coffee drinker..." Jace mumbled, his thoughts obviously elsewhere. He realized Jade had signaled that she was leaving, and quickly snapped back into attention. "Oh, Jade, wait, I was just wondering. I'm doing a survey, would you mind participating in it?" Grade A bullshit, Mr. Barker. Your parents would be proud.

Jade spun around on her heels to face Jace before she had the chance to completely exit his office. "Sure, what can I do to help?" she asked, leaning against the door frame and crossing her arms over her chest. She furrowed her eyebrows ever so slightly when he didn't speak for a few moments. They just stood there in his office, awkwardly glancing at each other after he had spoke. "Jace, you in there?" she joked, letting out a quick nervous laugh. She was finally able to analyze his facial expression and it appeared that he had made a verbal faux pas in that the words had slipped from his mouth before he was consciously aware of what he was saying to her. As she stood there, wondering what had made him slip up with his words, she tried to think about what had made him so distracted. It had been brought to her attention that he wasn't on top of his game, according to some of the other interns (mostly Peggy), but as far as she was concerned, he was still signing major deals and doing his job the way it was meant to be done, so it wasn't any of her business. She didn't know much about his personal life, other than the fact that he wasn't a big fan of golf and he preferred strong coffee over the weak stuff. It suddenly hit her what could have been making him so preoccupied. What if Peggy was constantly making these remarks because she was fooling around with him? After all, she wasn't really good at her job but seemed to always have a reason to talk to him! The two probably were uncomfortable together when Jade was in the room because they weren't able to act naturally! Was he giving her an unfair advantage? What would he ever want to do with her, especially after making such remarks about her presence? "I-I'm sorry," she stuttered, shaking her head, "I must have misheard you, I thought you called out to me." She tried her best to help him cover up the mistake that he had supposedly made, but after just a second had passed she felt that she had likely made the situation even more awkward than he could have ever intended. She needed to get out of there and clear her head before any images of Jace and Peggy together could begin to flood her vision. "My apologies, once again. Goodbye, Jace."

Owen rolled his eyes and let out the smallest of sighs at her passing the hot potato onto his lap. He wanted to tell her to cut the crap as he ran a hand through his hair but he was afraid that might upset her or make her even more timid to answer his question. "Please don't act like you don't know why I'm asking. After how things have gone between us these past few days - and weeks, I guess - I just want to know where we stand." He shrugged his shoulders, nervously fiddling with his shirt at the nape of his neck. He wasn't particularly used to having this conversation with women; in fact, it'd been a while since he'd even considered being in a relationship. A few years prior he was badly abused by his girlfriend and threatened to swear off dating entirely. He had just recently started thinking about the idea of spending the rest of his life with a woman and was quite eager to get the process going. "I want to know if I'm allowed to compliment you on your blouse or tell you that you've got a run in your pantyhose, which I'm hoping you realize that you did the other day." He frowned as he noticed how she began to fidget uncomfortably in her seat. That wasn't his intention at all, to make her uncomfortable in any way. In fact, he wanted her to realize that if she did have feelings for him that they were in fact mutual and not unrequited. "Am I allowed to tell you that I've bought movie tickets for the two of us tomorrow evening or do I need to find someone else to enjoy the show with me?" He pursed his lips, hoping she would pipe in at some point. He noticed that her gaze was focused on his name tag on his desk, rather than on his eyes. He wanted to look into her deep baby blue eyes and find out what she was really feeling, as she wasn't willing to tell him herself. "I guess what I'm trying to say is, are we going to continue to ignore what's going on between us or are we going to seize the day, of sorts, and start calling ourselves by our first names? Are we going to actually interact outside of work more than once a week?" He let out a deep breath. "I'll take the first step, just to test the waters, you know? Jenna, would you like to go to dinner and a movie with me tomorrow night, perhaps stay the night at my place?"

aww that's the cutest black market story i've ever heard! [totally kidding]
what was your favorite song by them? mine was Rush.

Jenna instantly straightened up when Owen began, getting right to the point. Her blue eyes got lost in his own, and that momentarily scared her. She instantly avoided his gaze, now looking directly at his nameplate. Owen Thatcher. It reminded her who he was, where they were, how far she had gotten. How hard she had to work to get where she was now. She could have been a country girl housewife. Married one of her jock boyfriends from high school, settled down in a cute little house, and raised a bunch of kids. But she choose otherwise, she choose to expand her horizons and make a name for herself. Have her own career that consisted of more than just cooking and cleaning. Not that she looked down upon housewives, or anything of that nature. All respect to them and the dedication they put to keeping up a home and raising their children with the utmost respect and brilliance. She wouldn't be the person she was today without her mother, after all. But as the words continued to come out of Owen's perfect mouth, she realized how she was slowly moving backward. She'll admit it to herself, here and now, that she did have slight feelings for Owen. Slight as in they could definitely develop into those feelings that made you breathless, the feelings that made you shake with desire and want. But he was her boss. Going out to dinner with him had definitely been a mistake; how could she expect others to treat her with respect when she had difficulty treating herself as such. A movie with him sounded like a dream. Getting all dolled up and having him pull her close to him by the waist. Having him smell the perfume off her neck. But when he suggested she stay the night at his place, well, that hit a few fuzzes. "Owen," she said, finally breaking her silence, "I can't date my boss." She reached over the table and took his hand, rubbing her thumb against his palm. "And it's so much more than that. If I do, I'm clouding my vision. I won't know if my advancements in this company and in my career will be because of my talent and dedication or because of our possible relationship." She stood from her seat, her lips curling into a weak smile. "I might have made a mistake going out to dinner with you last week, Owen, and for that, I apologize. Boo, you can have any girl you desire. Take it from me, I've heard them giggling in the bathroom between breaks. Ladies in the airport stood there gapping at you with their husbands and boyfriends besides them, shocked at how outrageous and obvious they were being." She looked down at their hands together and bit down on her lip. "I hope you understand, I just don't want to be confused regarding my career." She pulled her hand away slowly, pressing it up against her thigh. "And next time, Owen, don't suggest a girl stays the night at your place after only one date." She walked out his office suddenly, knowing that if she hadn't she would have burst into tears. It was like refusing a slice of your favorite cake because of your diet. Horrifically painful, but very necessary.

Jace watched as Jade spun around on her heels and agree to take his survey. He saw the actions taking place, and yet, he wasn't present. Instead, he was at the corner of a bedroom. Outside a stall in the lobby's bathroom. Trapped in a muggy elevator on a hot day. In all these scenes, however, he was viewing the same thing. Jade's hair and clothing being tugged and pulled lustfully by various men in the office, their faces morphing with their employees as their hands roamed her body. Her dark purple lipstick was smeared over the collars of their shirts. Her perfume reeked off of their jackets. Jade's face was a blur of passion and ecstasy, doing that beautiful little face that girls do when they're about to..about to..he trailed off again, only this time he was back in the office with Jade staring at him nervously. Oh no! Now she was turning and heading out the door. How long had he been occupied? Obviously longer than was conversationally appropriate. "No, stay, Jade. Sorry about that, must be that aspirin I took earlier. Might have been expired." He hoped to God that she hadn't paid much attention in chemistry and biology in school. "As I was saying, my survey. Well, it's being done by all companies in the West Coast, so keep in mind that I am not digging into your private life," he pulled on his color slightly, needing some air. God, he hoped she didn't see through his fibs. Must make this as believable as possible. He grabbed a notepad and pen off his desk, opened it up, and looked back at her. "My question is, are you romantically involved with anyone in the office? And if so, how does that affect your work environment?" He clicked at his pen and stared down at the paper, deciding that it would seem more anonymous if he avoided eye contact. Of course, he would have to call other hooligans into his office and ask them the same question to make it seem more believable, but that was a consequence he was willing to accept. Besides, it might make it easier on him to determine who it was that Jade was seeing. And how fast he could make them disappear.

i think Like Whoa was mine but Rush was easily my second favorite.
omg i spent way too many days dancing to their music on my trampoline. those were the days.

Jade pursed her lips, glad that he'd finally come back to his senses. She was worried that she would need to light a few strong candles down the hall and perhaps hold a witch-y voo-doo session to get him snapped out of his thoughts. She let out another nervous laugh at his comment about the aspirin. The last thing she needed was a boss desperate enough to consume expired medicine. She came back in and sat down at the seat in front of him, feeling a bit more relaxed now that he was "all there". She listened to his question and gathered her thoughts. How was she supposed to answer a question like that? Wasn't it a bit unfair that Jace would be the one to know her answer? Suddenly, the survey didn't seem as reliable as she had originally thought. Of course, she didn't want Jace to notice her realization so she bit her lip as she faked a moment of deep thought. After all, she had been noticing the way that Jace had been looking at her lately. She knew that when she went to hand him coffee, his eyes sometimes locked on the way that her jacket hugged her waist or how her skirt sat on her hips. He called her into his office to fix some of the things that he obviously knew how to do himself, like raising the height on his official big-wig chair or helping him lift some old veterinary textbooks up onto a shelf, even though he was significantly taller than she. Feeling a little bit bold, she decided to plant a seed into his mind. This would definitely get him reeling inside, whether he was truly asking this question for a survey or for his own interest. "Well..." she began, trying her best not to beat around the bush, "I don't believe that I'm necessarily involved, but I do think that there is something going on, yes. I'd rather say yes than no, just to be sure and cover all of the bases." Her eyes widened at what she had said. "No pun intended," she added with a short giggle. "I mean, I guess it doesn't quite get in the way of things here, per se, but if it continues to develop then it may cause quite an uproar, I simply don't know how else to put it." She smiled warmly. "Does my answer satisfy what you're looking for? Are there any other questions to which I am asked to respond?"

Owen frowned deeply at Jenna's response. He certainly hadn't expected to be rejected, especially for such a reason. If anything, she was the one that was perfectly okay with going out to dinner in the first place. In fact, as he recalled, he'd had to tell her to tone it down a few notches once or twice to ensure that things hadn't gone out of hand. He couldn't deny the electricity that he felt when she touched her hand to his, as cheesy and unoriginal as it had sounded. He knew that she would regret turning him down sooner or later, but his competitive edge in him preferred that it happen sooner. So she didn't want a physical relationship with him. That much he could get over, sure, although it would be tough to imagine not being able to get to know her. "Do you know how many doors I could open for you, simply because I got to know you? Jenna, I just want to find out more about you. I find you very curious and inquisitive, emotional but headstrong. I want to be able to help you out in any way that I can, but I can't do that if you completely shut me out. We don't have to jump right into things - we don't have to go off the diving board without testing the water first - I just want to start somewhere. That's all I'm asking." He shook his head. "I'm not looking for anything physical right now, please be aware of that. I want you to know that I'm on your side and I want to help you get places, which is something that I can't do if you back yourself into a corner." He drew in a deep breath as she went to exit the room. "Think about it, Jenna. You always know where to find me." When she finally left, he rolled his eyes, embarrassed as to how he had acted. He just ruined what little they had between them in a matter of minutes, and now they would never get anywhere further. He slammed his fist down on his desk and quickly reached to pick up his phone. "Hi, yes, can I speak to someone about obtaining the records of a Jenna Sparks?" he asked the lady on the line after dialing the phone number of the university that Jenna was attending. "She's a junior at your school and has been one of my employees for a few weeks now, I want to get some more background information on her." If she wasn't going to give him anything, he was going to use everything in his power to find out what he could on his own.

like a roller coaster ride, up and down and side to side, every inch of me is like, woah, woah.
damn, what in the world could they be talking about? *hint hint
-
Jenna continued walking, her feet feeling heavier and heavier with each step. It was like every fiber in her being was rejecting her actions. Like the R. Kelly song goes, her mind was telling her no, but her body, her body was telling her yes. She could hear his voice. She comprehended his words, his compliments. But she had nothing to say. He wasn't looking for a physical relationship right now. So when he had asked her to spend the night, he did it with the intention of watching cartoons or going over business documents. She wasn't born yesterday. And she hadn't lost any respect for Owen Thatcher in anyway. Honestly. She just had to stay true to herself, stay on the path she had set for herself toward success. He wanted to start something with her so he could advance her in the company, in her career. Get to know her, he said. But why must they do that romantically, if that was the case? He could get to know her otherwise, right? God, what if he fires her now that she refused his advances? Owen wasn't that kind of guy, thought, right? The kind of guy in the sexual harassment videos they make you watch before getting hired. No, he certainly wasn't. She knew that much that he respected women enough not to do such an unspeakable thing. She made her way to the floor's bathroom, pleased to find it empty. Perhaps the ladies were catching up on the latest season of America's Next Top Model, because she knew for a fact she was the only one who ever did any real work at this time. She looked at her reflection in the mirror and saw that she had bitten her lip so hard blood was present. Cursing at her now damaged smile, she rummaged through her purse for the miniature size vaseline she carried. She squirted a bit onto her fingers, and rubbed it onto her lips. She made a few kissy faces before applying her usual nude lipstick and tying her messy blonde hair back into a ponytail. She washed her face out with cold water, needing to look more awake and less like she had just been through war. She really, really hoped this wouldn't make things awkward between the two of them. She was still his intern, and she wanted him to know that she was still there for him. Should she go back and make that clear? But then she would only look confused and broken. No, end it on a strong note. Leave him questioning for once. She gave herself an affirmed glance in the mirror before hurrying out of the bathroom and toward her own desk. She was packing up and leaving early tonight, no ifs, ands, or buts.

Jace's lips curled into a slight smile as Jade began to speak. What came out of her mouth, however, wasn't so pleasing. "Cover all the bases?" He repeated, her choice of words shocking him slightly. He laughed weakly at the pun joke before jotting down some fake notes in his notepad. "Well, I'm glad someone has mastered how to mix business and pleasure," he finally said, setting the notepad down on his desk. Not before shutting it, of course. "You did mention, however, that developing your relationship with this certain somebody would cause an uproar. Would I be digging to deep if I asked you to elaborate on that?" Who the hell could it be? Cause an uproar? Could she possibly be dating Peter from the accounts department? God, he hated Pete. Such a perfect little employee, doesn't give you a reason to find anything wrong with him. But he saw through that fake perfection. Those straight white teeth and broad shoulders tightened and toned from spending hours at the gym. In Jace's defense, thought, he was sure everyone else could tell that Peter enjoyed wearing shirts that were a size or two too small for him. Then again, how would that cause an uproar? He honestly felt like the only one who could possibly care if Jade was dating a fellow employee was, well, himself. Of course, he wasn't obvious enough to believe that no one else had set their eyes on her, but still. He doubted they cared nearly as much as he did. He saw Jade as more than just a beautiful face and perfect body. He had interviewed her for her position at the company. Gone through her projects and research for school and saw, first hand, just how dedicated she was to her work. He saw how she handled clients, with the utmost respect and patience for even the silliest of requests and concerns. Jade was definitely a force to be reckoned with. He wanted her for more than just her looks. He wanted her mind, her body, her heart, her soul. Every bit of her, down to the last few fibers.

OH MY LORD WHAT THE :o
clearly I haven't listened to them since I hit high school... whoops'
---
Jade sighed heavily, pondering how to answer his question. Was now the time to give an offhand answer or did she want to let him figure things out for himself? Yes, that's what she would do - make him do all the work, just as she had done with the first question. "No, sir, I'd be happy to answer," she began. "What I mean is that from what I gather, having worked here for a little while now, relationships are frowned upon between coworkers, no matter what their rank or position. I wouldn't want to cause a disruption in the office, so this relationship needs to be shifted outside of my career now more so than ever." She smiled once again, just a slight expression. She adjusted in her seat a little bit as she watched him jot down a bunch of chicken scratch on his notepad. Ah, now she knew exactly where this was going. She hoped that her answers to his questions would be the elbow in his ribs, of sorts, that would kick-start whatever he was up to. She saw the sparkle in his eyes and could probably have heard the gears grinding inside that maniacal head of his. She'd had feelings for him for a while, yes, but she would never admit it directly to him. She had no reason to do so - it wasn't exactly evident that he felt the same way towards her. If he did, he was doing a damn good job of hiding how he felt. Maybe that was something that he took pride in? It seemed as if he was secretive about certain things - his family and friends, for instance, that she knew nothing about. He didn't have pictures all over his walls like he did with his numerous certificates, degrees, and diplomas. Pictures of him with corporate sponsors and other people that had made such an impact on his company. But nothing of the ones that he loved. She wondered what he went home to every night. Did he live alone in a house that he didn't even have enough furniture for? Or did he go home to a shady little shack with his girlfriend and a mangy dog? "And thank you for the compliment, I try my best to maintain balance in my life. I'm not a huge fan of surprise so I like to know what other people think of me right off the bat. I'm pretty impatient." She paused, catching herself. Now she looked like the girl from high school that you had to knock out at the lunch table just so she would shut up. Her face turned pink as she grew more embarrassed and self-conscious by the second. She cleared her throat before she spoke again. "Sorry, I'm officially rambling now, I bet that's not your intention, correct? But I do have one question for you," she added, "if you don't have any more for me. Will my answers remain anonymous, as in they won't be traced back to me?"

Owen nodded as he scribbled down a few notes on a piece of paper beside his computer. "Thank you so much for your help, miss," he said as he wrote, "I'll call back if I have any more questions for you. Thanks again." He hung up the phone abruptly, grabbing the piece of paper and pecking the address into his computer's search engine. His eyes widened when he realized how he and Jenna had grown up mere minutes away from each other. According to Google Maps, he used to buy fresh produce every Sunday morning from the little market on the corner that her parents had owned! He decided that it was fate that they had been brought together. Being a good five years older than she, they had never attended school together and he was an only child. It was entirely possible that they had never run into each other until now, something that he assumed was done by complete destiny. He ran his hands through his hair as he shut his eyes for a few moments to take this all in. His phone rang too soon and he picked it up to find that his receptionist had penciled him in to attend a meeting since he was already home from the east coast. He cursed under his breath and told her that he'd head to the conference room right away and that he'd be bringing a guest. He slid his jacket back on and stuffed his cell phone into his pocket before he exited his office and headed down the hall. He made his way through the common area and over to where he could find Jenna sitting quietly at her desk. "Come with me," he said, leaning against the imitation wall that separated her cubicle from the others, "I need someone that has actually been doing work this past week, I don't know what's been going on around here that Claire would need to arrange for a meeting." He waited for her to spin around in her chair before he gently grabbed her by the wrist. "We don't have much time, let's get going." They made their way to the conference room together. When they found themselves alone in the room, he went inside and shut the door after them. He didn't let her travel far before he stopped her in her tracks, placing his hands on her shoulders. "We need to set up some rules here, Miss Sparks. You will not speak unless spoken to. You will not talk badly of your coworkers and you will - oh, dear..." his voice trailed off as he used the tip of his thumb to carefully wipe off a spot of lipstick that had found its way onto her chin. He pursed his lips lightly, letting out a deep breath and withdrawing his hands from her as he found he may have gone too far. As far as he knew, what he had just done wasn't exactly acceptable.

Jenna was just finishing up her documents and dropping them into her bag when she felt someone creep up behind her. Of course, she didn't have to turn in order to see who it was. She could feel his presence, recognize that cologne anywhere. Turning around, her eyes fell on no other than Owen, who wasted no time in grabbing her by the wrist and leading her to the conference room. He didn't give her time to object while he instructed her where they were going, and what was going on. They were the first two in the room, causing her to wonder if there really was a meeting to be attended. Her blue eyes grew wide as he placed his hands on her shoulders, instructing her to keep quiet at all times. His finger against her chin caused her face to go red, and Owen realized he had went one touch too far. Wiggling out of his grip, she placed her hands on her hips as she raised her eyebrows at him. "Listen, Mr. Thatcher, I know my place in this company. I know when I can talk and when I cannot. I  know it  is an honor to be here with you, at your side for a meeting. I am grateful for that opportunity. But I ask you not to treat me like a child, and not to lay a finger on me without my permission." She suddenly moved closer to him, their lips now mere inches apart. "How would you like it, Mr. Thatcher, if I touched you with out permission?" She whispered, her tone daring him to challenge her. She ran her fingers across his leg, stopping at his upper thigh. When she felt his body was the appropriate level of tense, she pushed him away, making her way to her seat. "Let's treat each other like adults in the office, shall we? Outside of it, we'll argue and behave like children, I don't mind. But allow me to do my work like a professional, Owen. I hope you understand." She smirked slightly, cocking her head to the side. Before giving him a chance to answer her, the conference room began to fill in with old, stuffy men in suites. Okay, at least he hadn't lied to get her in here.

Jace swallowed hard at Jade's response. She was the utmost of a professional, even when he managed to poke her buttons. Poke her buttons. Oh how he would love to poke all of her buttons. Shaking his head of the thought, he nodded at her. "You've been doing some fine analysis work then, Jade, and I applaud you for that. In fact..." he began, realizing a way to make them interact more. "I'd quite appreciate it if I could have you write up what you just explained to me and email it to me. You see, lately there have been an increased amount of sexual harassment in the workplace, and the media is on everyone's case, you understand. Trying to soil the names of well established companies and such. But we if we release a statement on the behavior toward employee relationships and attractions, and so on, well, then we're lighting ourselves on fire before they do. Understand we're I'm going here? And to be honest, I can't think of anyone more qualified than yourself to write it. Especially if you're...experienced with the matter." He was, of course, referring to her little office fuck buddy. Whoever that weasel may be. In response to her question, he nodded his head. "Why, of course you'll remain anonymous. I would never dream of doing a survey otherwise. I wouldn't want to cause any troubles in your relationship, either," he winked at her, thinking how this must have been the biggest lie he had told all week. Cause trouble in her relationship? He wanted to set the guy on fire. or fire him from his job. Knowing the men who worked here, both would have the same effect on them. "Your paper on sexual tension in the workplace will also remain anonymous. I'll be the only one who knows. And Jade," he said, moving from behind the desk to stand beside her. "Your secrets will always be safe with me."

it seems like Owen's part is pretty long, my apologies :/
---
Jade nodded. "I see exactly where you're going with this, sir. Dismiss any rumors before they can be created, that's what I understand," she concluded. "I thank you for allowing my name to be excluded from anything that gets published, it would also benefit everyone else here. We don't want newspaper photographers barging down the doors looking for me, the author of the statement, do we?" She displayed a small smile but nervously shifted in her seat when he appeared behind her. She stood up quickly, feeling a bit awkward as she wasn't sure how she was to excuse herself from the room. "Thank you so much for this opportunity, I'll get started right away, Mr. -- uh, Jace," she said before giving him a brief wave as she entered the hallway. She shook her head in disbelief as she realized a few things. For starters, he always seemed so open with their relationship - if that's what you could call it, but yet, she kept catching herself remaining entirely professional, even when he asked her to loosen up a bit. She flipped some of her hair out of her face as she made her way back to her desk. Her eyes widened when she approached her computer and found it nearly entirely demolished. The screen had been shattered, sticky substances poured all over the keyboard and the mouse lay disassembled into a million pieces on the floor. She picked up the monitor and turned it around, wondering if she'd been a victim of the latest crime spree in the building. She had heard days before that interns were stealing the computer cords and selling them online, as they were worth a lot of money (apparently - she had no clue what they did, let alone what they were worth), but she figured that it was just a rumor that circulated around the water cooler each morning. She viewed the serial code on the back of the monitor and found a sticky note that read "Have fun with this one - Peggy". Furious, she ripped off the sticky note and charged down the hall to Jace's office, her thoughts clouded as she was unsure who to report the incident to. "We have another problem on our hands," she proclaimed loudly as she walked into his office, finding him casually playing on his computer at his desk. She walked up and handed him the sticky note. "Are you entirely sure that she walked away after we had our conversation?" she demanded, taking a seat in the chair that she'd been settled in only minutes before.

Owen couldn't help but laugh at her remark. "And I'm the one treating others like children, okay," he mumbled. He drew in a sharp breath as her delicate hands made their way towards his upper thigh. This is officially war, he thought to himself, she's not getting away with this one. "Fighting fire with fire, are we?" he said as she approached her seat. "That's how this is going to go?" He cleared his throat as he took his own seat beside her after shaking a bunch of clammy hands. He didn't realize he was making a bunch of older business men, likely much more advanced and wise than he, nervous as they were probably shaking in their boots. "All I ask is the same from you," he whispered in her ear before the meeting began. For roughly an hour, the group discussed a deal that was in the works to combine Owen's company with another large corporation that would mean cheaper prices for veterinarians hoping to buy medicines through the pharmacy that he was in charge of. It all seemed like a good deal until they got down to the last items on the list that were to be addressed. The one idea that stood out to Owen was that while the deal was to be implemented, only essential staff were allowed to work for the company in order to avoid any chance of an impromptu snafu. This meant that in a matter of days, unless he got the ball rolling immediately, Jenna and the other interns would have no more internship opportunities at his company. His face went pale as the idea was announced, and out of the corner of his eye he noticed that Jenna stiffened in her seat. He panicked - he should have never brought her into the room, if he had known this was going to end on a bad note. Clearing his throat in an attempt to snap himself out of his thoughts, Owen rose from his seat and thanked the man that was to be processing the deal with one of his signature strong handshakes. The room soon emptied except for he and Jenna, who stayed behind to 'clean up the room', at least, that's what he told the men as they filed out of the room. He turned to face Jenna, who had her face buried in her hands. "I've got an idea, Jenna, I'm not going to let them take away all of you at once," he told her, propping himself up on the table with one elbow. "I would welcome you into the company with open arms, but as you want to be treated like a professional, I'm going to have to take a different approach." He paused as he stood up from his seat and began walking towards the door, motioning for her to follow along after him. "Why do you want to be an official employee for Thatcher Pharmaceuticals? I'd appreciate if you'd turn in your paper by the end of the day - I ask that you personally deliver it to my office before you leave." He went to exit the room but quickly turned his head back around to add, "And thank you for remaining silent. Seems like someone knows how to listen to at least one rule."

oh gurl it's fine. in fact, i like long posts. :3
-
Jenna heard his mumble and her smile only widened. She was getting to him, and that gave her a childish satisfaction. She knew it was immature, and a bit contradictory to use her body to tease him after her somewhat feministic rampage, but she would be lying if she said otherwise. As the men filled in the room and greeted Owen, she straightened her back and attempted to seem as professional as possible. She didn't want to give off the fact that she was an intern, obviously. The first half an hour of the meeting was interesting, she supposed. The men were dry as the desert, but Owen seemed widely fascinated by their proposals and explanations. Rightfully so; if she had built her own empire she too would be intrigued by everything that correlated around it. Her jaw momentarily dropped, however, when they revealed the only setback that what would have been, could have been, a fabulous and perfect plan. The interns, every single one of them, would be getting the boot. Perhaps not today, perhaps not tomorrow, but eventually they would all be out, losing the greatest opportunity most of them had ever indulged in. She shut her mouth quickly, however, not wanting to seem phased. Psh, who needed interns anyways? That's what her facial expressions should read. But inside she crying, screaming her heart out. Of course she was going to be one of the first to get fired; what logical reason would Owen have for allowing her to remain? Especially after her little show before the men arrived. She pursed her lips, waiting for the meeting to end. Once it finally did and the men filed out of the room, she allowed herself to break down completely. She dropped her face in her palms and tried her best not to physically cry. If she got booted from this job, which she would, then she would be right back where she started. Nowhere. Upon hearing Owen's voice, she rose her head and looked at him. "You've got an idea?" She repeated, shocked he was even considering her an option. Welcome her into the company? God, why did she have to be so stupid?! It was okay, Jenna, okay to get by just because you were a pretty girl! "All I have to do is write a paper?" She gasped, jumping from her seat and racing toward him. "Owen, Mr. Thatcher, whatever, thank you so much for this opportunity! Thank you!" She cried, wanting to hug him but not being that dense. She giggled slightly at his compliment, and watched as he left the room. He really did have a heart. She raced from the room and toward her desk, where she began to type away at the paper that would hopefully land her a job.

"Of course, Jade. It's no problem at all. You're very welcome," Jace answered as he watched his precious little jewel leave his office to go work on a paper that wasn't actually needed. Well, they might as well start a trend. This could still help the company, show the world that they were on top of things. He collapsed into his desk and turned on his computer, checking his email. Only a few moments had passed when Jade was back in her office, her pretty face trying its best to suppress tears. He rose from his seat, at first assuming whatever man whore she was with had disrespected her in some way, and she found that he was the only person she could confide in. He could single handedly kick and fire anyone's ass, but it didn't take him long to realize that was far from the case. She held up the cord to her computer, along with a sticky note. He took it from her and read it, his eyebrows raised. "It seems, Jade, that she did walk away. But not to her own desk." He dropped the sticky note onto his own and sighed. "I almost don't want to punish her because I'm amazed at how stupid she is. It's clear to all that she doesn't like you, but to vandalize your desk and then sign it? Well, she's basically asking for a pink slip. Unless," he stopped in his tracks, looking over at Jade. "You don't want me to fire her, because she has dirt on you that she could use against you? I'm just thinking out loud here, but judging by my past experiences girls tend to be better at these things than boys do. So I would think she would be brighter than that...then again, she is an idiot." He stuffed his hands into the pockets of his suit pants, realizing he was rambling. "But I'm going on and on on. Let me tell you this, Jade, whatever she has on you, if anything at all, I'll dismiss because of the favor paper you're writing for me. Peggy will be out of this office sooner than it takes her to file through some documents, which looking back on it wasn't a good analogy because that alone takes her ages to do. As for your computer, you..." he thought for a moment. "Could use mine, if you don't mind me present while you type."

Jade chewed at her lip as he read the sticky note. "I can promise you that I'm unaware of why she is acting in such a way, sir," she told him, nervously fidgeting with the hem of her blouse. "I couldn't tell you the first thing about her, besides what she puts on as a show for the public." She coughed, realizing that her comment may have been a bit rude. She drew in and let out a few deep breaths in an attempt to calm herself. "The decision that you choose to make regarding her employment will not alter my behavior whatsoever, I can assure you that much. However, for Peggy, there's no way for either of us to predict her reaction to how you handle this... 'situation'." She ran a hand through her hair, realizing how flustered she truly was. "If you'd really like to know, I guess I can tell you what I believe is the reason for all of this commotion. It seems as if Peggy is jealous of what little interaction that I have with you. I'm sure that after seeing how she reacted to my presence this morning you can confirm my suspicions." She pursed her lips as she contemplated his proposition. "Oh, no, that's alright, I don't want to get in the way of your work," she said eventually. In all actuality, she didn't quite fancy the idea of him peering over her shoulder as she pecked away on his keyboard. The idea that she would be surrounded by the tantalizing aroma of his cologne was enough to send her mind into a frenzy. "I'm sure that there's a desk on the next floor that will be available for my use." When he seemed saddened by her rejection of his idea, she frowned and gave in. "Alright, I guess I can work up here. If I can go ahead and create the statement in your word processing software, it'll be easier for you to use for the purposes that you intended. That way, we won't have to worry with exchanging emails of formatting and such." She shrugged, hoping that was she was rambling about made some sort of sense to him. She figured that she would just have to work quickly and efficiently to avoid the temptation of staring at him all day long instead of completing what he had asked her to do.

Owen smiled at Jenna's enthusiasm. "Don't let me down on this one, Miss Sparks. I want what's best for you, just as you should," he told her as they exited the room. He shut the door behind them and went back to his office, taking a seat in his chair and basking in all of his glory. Things were looking up, despite how the deal would be changing the work place. He went back to work, typing away at a memo to all employees of Thatcher Pharmaceuticals. 'Those who will be offered permanent positions have already been contacted. Unfortunately, if an offer has not been extended to you, your internship will be terminated at 0800 hours on Monday, August 18th.' he wrote. At the end of the memo, he had the idea to suggest for his receptionist to set up a meeting with the chief officers of the company and all of the interns for the next day, which was Thursday. This would be a chance for interns to ask any questions, or perhaps get down on their knees and beg for an offer. He sent out the memo and moved on to typing up a flyer that would provide information about the meeting. Once it was completed, he printed out a copy and headed out to find Jenna. "Could you make some copies of this and post them up around the building?" he asked her after arriving at her desk. He handed her the paper, a warm smile on his face. He tried his best to remain calm as he looked around nervously at the others while they began to check their emails. "I suggest that you get on it right away, Jenna, I can provide you with extra time to complete your current project if the need arises." He nodded once she agreed to the task. "Thank you, Miss Sparks," he said before quickly exiting the area and heading towards the elevators. He was in need of a strong cup of coffee to help him finish out the work day, and he was completely and utterly afraid to ask any of the interns to prove him with a drink. He was afraid that he'd be poisoned with deadly sugar cubes or treated to a drink with milk that had been coincidentally spoiled. He arrived on the main floor and headed towards the coffee station, proud that he'd arranged for free coffee for himself throughout the day. He purchased two chocolate chip muffins and snacked away on one of them as he returned to his floor. He stopped by Jenna's desk and sat the muffin down beside her work area before escaping from the area. It was no longer quiet in the corridor, but it wasn't unruly either. That meant he only had a short amount of time before mass chaos would break out.
