very true, the way fast fashion has taken over the world since the start of the 2000s with the insanely cheap prices and endless+every evolving options is so hard for sustainable brands to compete with (esp how buying seasons used to be like 4 times a year, and now these brands are constantly buying weekly?)
i find there are a lot of good thrifting options from online stores, but the ones i find are usually always in europe and then yeah, shipping is insane + then i have to take in to account my carbon footprint
and im from canada, wbu?

how do you find european thrift sthores. I can only find US\UK based. You need to spill the addresses.

well, okay, it depends on what you make because I'm picky in clothing style and I find that so much sustainable fashion brands have basics and just generally styles I don't enjoy.

if i'm remembering right its because its more expensive to make bright, complex clothing that isn't also really expensive for the consumer : ( plus basics are always in style while bold pieces are more trendy and seasonal and less people will buy them (which leads to more waste)

so asos marketplace has a whole page with independent boutiques/thrift shops that sell online thru their website, https://marketplace.asos.com/boutiques?ctaref=mktp|btq|nav|toptab , theres an option to sort through indie/thrift and stuff but yeah, some of my faves are based in like portugal!? + i follow a few 'closet' accounts of celebs and they post where they get their clothes, alot of the thrift store options i find are in australia too, actually

I know. It's kinda sad because I find that the fit of most basics just aren't even the cuts I like on my basics. And then I like are very picky because it's so expensive exl. shipping and taxes. Also, online shopping that's expensive and you don't know if it will fit you at all. I'm like I must believe I want it at least 90% to buy something.

The more textiles, the higher the price. I would like more kinda crop tops tho, and I can only find tees. It should basically be cheaper to produce because it is less textile. The dye is probably important as well. I haven't found many sites that have written about what kind of dye they use. White is maybe bleached(?) cotton. I haven't read up on it, but I totally am here for more natural dyes.

so far designing my own ethical/sustainable clothing line is like my ~long term dream~ but more realistically, at least for now, i plan on going in to the buying side just because it seems like a more sturdy/realistic path atm. plus theres a school in my city and its a 2 year program so i dont have to be in school forever yk
the parsons program that i am currently in just covers the basis of the whole industry, the point of it is kinda just to give ppl an overview to help them figure out what they'd like to go into, so i find it super helpful

so basically you work for a fashion brand/company n you’re supposed to be a trend forecaster and know whats about to be in style for the next buy, you attend trade shows/fashion shows and meet with sellers and distributors and it’s basically your job to make good relationships w these people and then buy the stock of clothing for the next season for the company
