This is true. It was never clearly defined what the target audience was (or at least it's never been clear to me). I always got the feeling it was around age 13.  I was just going with what Butterflycry said, which could be incorrect.
yeah i don't think kaj or miranda has ever explicitly said a target audience age. especially with rules about cussing and how much sexual situations can be talked about, i would be surprised if it wasnt already 13+.
True. I feel this shows they really should state what the age is because it is misleading as a large amount of the topics are about stuff that 12- really shouldn't view and swearing is in pretty much every single thread (even ButterflyCry when she was arguing about why Mugi was in the wrong for a 10-16 demographic).
yeah exactly, i called her out on it. i don't think this site was ever intended for kids under 13, and i don't think they'll ever shift to that demographic bc of how old the community already is.

+16 and force them to sign up through FB so they cant fake their age (I know you can just make a fake FB profile but less people would actually wanna bother with that). Although this should only count for new accounts created after implementation (if it ever is)
although a lot of people choose not to use fb even if they are over 16, i think we should just say an age and if kids below that age decide to join, they read the rules and it's on them/their parents.
I agree with Undyne.

If they dont have FB they shouldnt even be able to join then... That was my point :p

I don't think it matters what the target audience is because if you wanna join, you're gonna join regardless of an age. Idk how this website is 10-16

Using FB for sign-up doesnt mean it pulls every little bit of information. It could simply be age and location... Not name, picture etc. (I mean, idk if thats possible, or if it would pull all information by default, but assuming it is)

It does but an age limit means it's not the website's fault if things aren't age appropriate as it's the kids' fault for joining, not VP's.

i don't think it's in kaj and miranda's best interest to exclude everyone who doesn't have a facebook, especially when advertising through the new app coming. they want as many players as possible and excluding it to a small target market of people would not be the best idea

I thought that was you! I loved your response btw <3 I feel maybe in it's origin it may have been intended but as ex-GSM users got older, the intention changed and laxed (my personal view). Exactly. It'd be stupid for them to backtrack now anyway as it'd mean basically wiping the site due to the clothes/skins/forums etc. that don't meet the 10-16 requirement.

For me I'd be thinking more people I know would see that I'm on VP, rather than what information it gives them.

yeah, 10 is too young for this site, but if it's outlined that we intend for 13+ on here and they decide to join anyway, that's a risk they decide to accept. not everyone is going to follow the rules and people need to realize that.

Websites that use FB for sign up usually (always) only pulls information that you would normally use (name, age, mail etc.) - it wouldnt actually show anything on your FB about VP (it always says something like "This does not allow the app. to post anything on your FB" )

Yeah my thoughts exactly. Those standards are pretty much regulation on all other sites I've played as a kid, I don't see why people think it'd be such a big deal to add them here
