would they still be able to see responses though?? like, if you were blocked but someone else replied to it, that wouldn't be blocked from view so that could be problematic too?
i was thinking that with this,  ppl were talking about like not being able to see the blocked player's comments at all, like erased completely from view, so definitely, i dunno how that would even work D: like
if someone blocked you, but in a thread your friend quoted you, so now how does that even show up on the person-who-blocked-you's page?
idea: your username shows up as Private just like if you're not logged in !!
that would b good O.O nice!
the main point of the block is to not see their text tho X,D so probably no text at all
vp would need a HUGE update for that >_>

Nah, like chandelier said, people would just use it to bully. I think people just need to practice either avoiding someone or not posting in threads if they don't like the person. Blocking someone and never being able to see what they write would be a little extreme haha and blocking someone from writing in a thread is unfair also.
i see your point about a ban feature for threads but for blocking a person on this site in general? no, that feature should stay/be improved on.

i think it would work better if blocking someone actually blocked them? like, along with being unable to message/gift you things, they would also be unable to see your posts/post in your threads
That would be helpful. I definitely think this is a better idea.

I agree. It needs some major improvements.

Social media is a lot different than vp. When you block on social media it's to stop trolls or people who post a lot of malicious comments. Vp is a community of people, not that some people can't post unnecessary things in threads but there's already things like warnings and time outs and if you get enough you are gone anyways? It's better to have a chance to improve behavior then just to be like bYE don't have to see whatever you write again. People would just post in their own friends threads and that is boring and people would block certain people and that would get really lonely for those certain people. Just learn to ignore people's comments you don't like, avoid threads, avoid what they said and just report if you don't like it.

users of a social media site have the right to choose whether or not they want to block another user from their individual view. this is still a forum like any other forum and it would be unfair to not give the user individual control over who or what they choose to see while on their own account. being in a community doesn't mean you have to look at everyone in that community even if you don't want to.

Forums are similar enough to social media that a block feature is important.
If everyone would block certain people and it would get lonely for them and thats the concern, under ur idea of just "ignore and avoid people you dont like", it would just be more obvious to those lonely people that  theyre disliked lmfao

I don't think vp is anywhere as extreme as people are on  social media. But I still disagree and don't think kaj and kim would add that feature. But if enough people agreed you could bring it up. I just personally don't think it would add anything that would help improve the website.

vp is not as extreme as that bc there are so many rules kept tightly in place. and my responses to you were about the block feature that already exists, not the mods being able to block a user from a thread suggestion. i think making the block feature more usable would help improve the site, though, so maybe i'll try talking to kaj and kim about it.

If that happened, would there even be more people left in the threads?

I do like some aspects of that idea.

If there are certain users who are causing an issue in the thread, it sucks for the OP to have their thread locked because a select few people have poor self-control and don't know when to stop posting.

If someone is deliberately in there to taunt people and stir the shitpot, I think kicking them out of that thread would be perfect rather than timing them out/warning them.

Although, it does seem like an extremely complex feature for VP to have..
