they were always straight up pop

I honestly like the first two records. I don't care. they're nothing great but they are guilty pleasures. I liked this one a lot:

everything after AROBTTH I don't really like. They've always been formulaic and contrived but it's gotten even worse. When they decided to release a song that sounded almost exactly the same as Clocks is when I was out. X&Y is so bad.

I remember I read somewhere that someone described Coldplay as Radiohead for mums and I laughed

I mean I don't even disagree with you. They are a band that just took radiohead's formula and made it more safe and accessible. Their first two albums just really fun and catchy and I like singing along. It's not that deep of a love. They are far too formulaic though. That one hit, Stars? God it was boring and not catchy like clocks. I just kept thinking, "you know I could just listen to One Republic if I wanted to."

they're kinda like Weezer to me. I really like The Blue Album and Pinkerton. They took a risk with Pinkerton that was way ahead of it's time and failed, and now they just create the most boring and safe shit ever. I can't. Fuck Island in the Sun. Fuck Pork and Beans. Absolutely fuck Beverly Hills.

Coldplay was always safe to start but also had something... special for the time. Now? God they need to stop. AROBTTH was great, we get it. We don't need you regurgitating the exact same thing for another decade.

I normally don't listen a lot to bands, I like a few of the songs and feel closer to the song than the band, idk why
