MCR was just a really bad rip-off of The Smashing Pumpkins with Queen undertones, and that doesn't work imo. Also so gimmicky. They were mess. Overrated as hell. Their debut was their best (I adore Demolition Lovers so much; great track) and I do genuinely like Helena, and that's really it. The Black Parade is fucking terrible. I tried so hard to like em and I just couldn't. I don't care much for Gerard's vocals and I think that's a big part of my problem with liking them.

I LOVE my chemical romance but at this point a lot of it comes down to nostalgia. I agree that gerards voice is.. an acquired taste and I also prefer their first (and second!) albums. I got the black parade for christmas when I was 11 or 12 and ngl if that hadn't happened I probably wouldn't have cared much for it.

my friend and I disagree on if Oasis is a good band. I am of the opinion that they are.

Alright by Supergrass (lol whoops for those who caught my original mistake) is on a summer playlist I've compiled.

I love Brimful of Asha by Cornershop.

Pulp is a masterpiece.

That's all I really have to say. Definitely more of a casual listener over a fan.

i'm of the opinion that Oasis isn't a good band, haha. wonderwall plays all the time in the pub and every time it does i'm there like *pained emoji face* lmao.

i used to be rly into britpop around 10 years ago, but i think it's just a thing that i listened to the genre so often i just got sick of it. still listen to a couple of tunes now and again tho

what brit-pop do you like? I know you were very big into Pulp and I would say they are the best from what I've heard.

I adore this song:

I found it by searching, "song that repeats '45'" lmfao.

I can see how people would dislike Oasis for being overplayed but are they only a bad band because they're overrated? Idk, I like them tbh.

Nothing will beat The Kinks or The Beatles. However in the whiny, angst filled 90's, Brit-pop was bright, happy, shiny and summer-y and upbeat and just fun to listen to. So it recycled something that's been done before. It was fun to listen to though.

Do you like The Apples in Stereo Louisa? In America the 60's pop/neo-psychedelic revival was more underground/indie than a mainstream movement. I love The Apples in Stereo. I don't care much for The Olivia Tremor Control. I mean I get they were a homage to the more trippy Beatles moments like Revolution 9 but they still feel like pretentious clap-trap to me. I dunno.

Spice Girls was horrible and I cannot understand how anyone likes Wannabe, it's fucking annoying and none of them are even close to be able to sing or rap or whatever they are attempting to do.
My neighbor made me watch Spice World and I was bored out of my mind.

I had a crappy emo phase and I like a lot of rock bands (I even liked The Used and Falling in Reverse/Escape the Fate which are similar to MCR, no?) so I feel like something is missing; like I'm supposed to like them and it's weird I never did. Idk. They just never did it for me. I think my utter hatred for The Black Parade and Teenagers helped a lot. Fuck those songs.

I like Lush. Didn't know if they'd be classified as brit-pop though.

I've been meaning to get around to Manic Street Preachers but haven't. Thank you!

Didn't realize Elastica was classified as brit-pop

most of these I don't even know. lmfao. thanks so much tbh. There's a reason I don't really mention brit-pop; I know little about it.

God yeah I've always absolutely despised teenagers and that's the song the people hang out with now latched onto lmao. When it was new I always thought it sounded nothing like what i expected from mcr so I largely just ignored the whole thing. I can't stand that song, and I'm not really updated on any of their newer stuff either (danger days? idk if there's more).

I appreciate the black parade as like an emo anthem, but the song itself isn't that great.
