The Mandela Effect (by Rosalie )

Introduction to the Mandela Effect

Hey guys, Hailee here. Today I'm going to be sharing one of my favorite conspiracies with you all! To give a fair warning, this might be quite creepy/scary to some, so if you find yourself sensitive to certain things I would suggest not reading any further! If this theory interests you, leave a comment down below!

The human brain is a complicated thing; it is so complex that there are cognitive scientists out there who dedicate their life to studying the human brain. A big part of their study is the human memory, we have short-term memories, as well as long-term memories. Have you ever wondered what would happen if something we remembered wasn't enough as it seemed? This is where the Mandela Effect comes into play.

In recent years, some people remember that Nelson Mandela died years ago in prison, and not in 2013 when CNN reported his death. Thousands of people remember the same thing, and this isn't the first time that things like this have happened. All over the world, people have remembered things differently from the way they are now. This phenomenon is known as the Mandela Effect, and I'm going to be sharing a few of the weirdest ones out there with you.

What is the cause of The Mandela Effect? One theory is that people are traveling through parallel universes and are altering things for their gain, but in return, things in the present universe are changing. A great simple example of this is, I've always known the show as “Sex in The City,” my sister-in-law used to watch it like crazy. Apparently now, the show is “Sex and The City.” This creeped me out because it's so weird to see things changing. It could be the slightest thing, but it's still very strange.

The Berenstain Bears?!

Okay, so this one creeped me out. I remember one night, my boyfriend called me in a panic. “You remember those bears right?” He asked, just by his tone of voice I could sense something was wrong with it. After a few moments, I said yes, wondering why he would even ask such a question like that. Well, he proceeded to tell me that it’s no longer ‘Berenstein’ but now they refer to them as the ‘Berenstain’ bears.

I started to laugh and told him he was crazy; that’s when he sent me a picture of an old book he had dug up from his childhood stuff. I kid you not; I almost dropped my phone when I saw the picture. I used to watch the shows and read all of the books. How could I have been wrong all these years?

That’s when I started to do some research; I wasn’t the only one who remembered the famous characters as The Berenstein Bears. I had to ask my parents what they remember it as, and they agreed with me. I had always been a fan, so they can recount many hours of me in front of the tv watching it.

Another reason why I remember it so well is that I had a hard time to pronounce it, so my mom always told me to think about Einstein. It had the same letters at the end, I’m sorry, but his name isn’t Albert Einst-AIN. Have you guys ever heard of this Mandela Effect? What are your thoughts on it?

...I AM YOUR FATHER

Even if you aren’t a fan, you probably know someone who is a fan of the Star Wars franchise. My boyfriend is a huge Star Wars fan, and he didn’t know about this Mandela Effect. Now, although, I’m not a huge fan. I have seen the movies, and I certainly don’t remember the quote going like this.

Here’s the thing, I’ve always remembered the quote being “No Luke, I am your father.” It’s such a famous quote that even tv shows like to use it and poke fun at it, but apparently, it’s not even that! Apparently, the quote is just, “No, I am your father.” WHAT!?

This quote was made famous by Darth Vader, and it goes both ways. As I was reading comments about this one, I was reading full on fights about how some people were wrong. Some individuals who believe in the newer version of the quote, are intense as so saying that they are right.

But yet, there are still many people out there who believe that the quote was always “No Luke, I am your father.” A great example not taken from me is that it was a significant plot twist in the movie franchise, so how could people not forget the quote. Well, folks, it’s up to you, how do you remember this famous quote?

The Mona Lisa one in the video fucked me over. I remmeber her with a kind of straight face as well. Not that smirk. Or at least not a smirk that stand out as much as the one she showed.
And I remmeber them as the Berenstein Bears.
I do not want to get involved in yet another theory omg I already "research" so many :c why do I like creepy stuff and conspiracy theories.
The Mona Lisa theory was really creepy for me. Because same thing, I always thought she had a straight face. But that smirk though 😭

Most of these things can be explained with how sociable humans are.
I saw a video on that "darth vader quote" and they explained that people simply remembered it wrong bc so many would say it wrong. It's like that game you know... when you whisper something to the person next to you and they do the same and so and so, and the word comes out different at the end. It's like that.
Human memory is not that reliant to begin with XD so it's not that weird.

I'm completely sure it was Looney Toons and not Tunes. This is fucking me up.
It's definitely always been "Tunes" because of the music associated with the cartoons
But this is what I mean, everyone has a different opinion on how they remember things :)

I'm not against that this is a real thing, but I feel like for 2 of them, they can be explained just be assoscation.
Bearinstain Bears, Bearinstain sounds like Frankenstein which is "-ein" and everyone knows Frankensteins Monster, so tadah.

And secondly, the Jif peanut butter, people seeing it a Jiffy, probably remember Skippy and added the "-fy" because it sounds "right".
No but the stein/stain one messed me up. Because I always remember it being stein and they aren't even similar.

There's actually a picture out there with stein still printed in it. Its creepy.
