Hey nerds, today I'd like to share two of my favorite house building decorations for the Sime 4.
I hope you'll enjoy them and/or try them in your own game if you like them!
Step 1: Make a Space!
First things first, you need a space to place the little overhang. This is my spot - generally you'll be building this against a wall but if you're crafty you could probably make a gazebo type structure. Play with it, make it your own!
Step 2: Pick a Fence!
Next, you need to pick the fence you want to use for the lattice. I usually use a low fence - the one in the photo is the Smooth Keeper fence from the base game but other low fences will work just as well if you don't like that one.
Step 3: Delete!
Once you've chosen your design for the lattice, the floor will fill in and you'll need to delete the ground pieces to make it look like an actual structure.
So, start deleting those spaces... It can be tedious. Take your time.
Step 4: Decorate!
You've made the lattice, now you just need to make it pretty. To add plants and what not, you need to have the Move Objects On cheat on. You can achieve this by pressing ctrl+shift+c and typing in bb.moveobjects on.
Experiment with different plants, make it pretty!
Step 5: All done?
I like to use the low-lying plants.
The ones I have used in the photo are the Low-Lying Pale Yellow Flowers. I also added those hanging lights.
(Yes, they are in other photos, don't ask.)
Step 6: Extras!
If you're unsatisfied with just the plants on top, try adding the wall planter box decorations to the edges of the lattice.
To do this you need the Move Objects On cheat and you need to hold ctrl while pressing the 9 key to move the planter box up into place.
Thank you to Fiskarna for setting up this amazing layout!
Step 1: Make a Room!
Make a room that is on a foundation, if it's not on a foundation it will not work.
For the sake of the tutorial I'm just using a basic square room, but you can experiment and make something a little more complex if you're feeling up to the challenge.
Step 2: Divide the Room!
In order for this to work you need to take a wall and use it to block off the area that you want to drop down.
Once you've done that you're ready for the next step.
Step 3: Delete the Floor!
Simple as that, delete the floor in the area that you blocked off.
By doing this you will also delete the roof above the room so you'll have to make sure you put the roof back over the room or you're going to get all kinds of weird lighting glitches.
Step 4: Delete the Wall!
Now delete the wall that you put up to block off the area of the floor you had previously deleted.
This will open up the room and allow you to start building the rest of the room.
Step 5: Add Stairs & Decorate!
Your Sims are going to need stairs in order to get from one spot to the other so make sure you put in a nice set of stairs or one big long one.
Whatever floats your boat. When you're done that, you can decorate the room however you want! Have fun!
