Hey everyone, Sarah here to give you a quick article on something I've been obsessed with lately. If you have any time, I'd recommend watching a bit of the live stream and letting April capture your hearts too. Also, shout out to BaileyyRosee for the cute layout.
On February 19th, 2017, Animal Adventure Park went live on giraffe cam to follow pregnant mother to be April. The world was instantly swept into the excitement of watching April and waiting for the approaching birth that would be streamed live. Little did they know April would become a worldwide phenomenon with thousands tuning in to watch April in her day to day life as an expecting mother.
As of right now, April hasn't given birth yet, but the handlers and vets at Animal Adventure Park have been keeping us all updated on their Facebook page with twice daily check-ins. The giraffes do get field time, as long as the weather allows it, as well as lots of treats and love.
I admit I was fascinated by April. I wanted to see a baby giraffe born, and when I first viewed in to the live stream, I thought she was on her way. The media had claimed she was "in labour" when in fact she wasn't in active labour. I sat watching the live stream for 2 hours waiting for the baby.... that was probably little under 2 weeks ago haha.
April is 15 years old, and this is her 4th baby, but the first baby with Oliver. Giraffes are pregnant for 15, months and the calf will weigh about 150 lbs at birth. No wonder April has so much support from mothers.
The live feed actually had some issues with YouTube when it started. Someone reported it as being sexually explicit or nude content and was therefore removed from the site.
You can find more information on Aprilthegiraffe.com, which includes the official live feed (there are some fake ones out there), the giraffe store, download some giraffe emojis, and learn how you can help sponsor the giraffes and other animals at the Animal Adventure Park.
Here you can find the live feed, running 24/7. Keep in mind they do have some blips, but will always be up and running again shortly. (Link to Animal Adventure Park youtube page HERE)
