Train Derailment in White Marsh, Baltimore (by Account deleted)
World News!
Train Derailment in White Marsh, Baltimore: On Tuesday this week a cargo train was derailed in a Baltimore suburb. The train derailment made homes and building collapse from a half a mile away. Some of the buildings ended up in the middle of a fire. In past years, their have been many derailments that have caused many deaths. In 2011, their were 122 deaths. Last year the deaths ranked at 104. Thankfully, it is down from 2011. But still is not good!
Rescued Caver in Tennessee: Dwight Kempf, a 54 years old who lives in Pennsylvania, fell from 30 feet in one of our nation's largest caves. He ended up with a skull fracture and broken femur. It took the rescuers almost 24 hours to rescue Kempf. He was taken out of the cave on Monday around 1:30 p.m. He went to Erlanger Medical Center for treatment right away. Andy Voss, a paramedic said, "It is a beautiful place, but it can be unfriendly." It is a true testament that things can be dangerous. Does that mean you shouldn't do them? What do you think?
Movie Reviews!
A new addition to my Friday News will be movie reviews! Hope you enjoy!
The Great Gatsby: The movie was originally based on the book by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I saw this movie a few weeks ago. It was a fantastic movie. My two favorite actors were Leonardo De Caprio, who played Jay Gatsby, and Elizabeth Debicki who played Jordan Baker. The movie and book have a great story involved. I always hope that Jay and Daisy will end up together. But they never do!
Sleepless in Seattle: I'm one of those girls who love the sappy movies. I believe that people who are meant for each other will end up together. This movie stars Tom Hanks, who plays Sam Baldwin, who has a young son named Jonah. Jonah calls a radio talk show. He tells the sponsor that he wants his dad to get a new wife. Annie Reed, played by Meg Ryan, listens to this talk show and is in awe. I won't spoil the plot for you. It is a great movie to watch with your friends on a Saturday night in.
If you have any movie you want me to review put it in the comments below!
Book Reviews!
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee: I read this book for my freshman English class. Honestly, I did not enjoy it at first. When it got to the trial phase I started to love it Once I finished reading it, I realized that the book had to be this way to get across the whole point of the story. The symbolism alone speaks volumes to many people. I recommend this book as one to read!
The Elephant Man by Christine Sparks: This book is truly one of the most interesting books I have read. It is a true story of a man named John Merrick who suffers from a disease called Neurofibromatosis, which causes benign masses to form under the skin. He was treated horribly. When he finds a doctor who is willing to take care of him things turn around. But, what happens when his master comes back to take him away? Read to find out!
