Our gaming consoles entertained us as kids, and still do today. We loved to play our favorite games such as Super Mario 64, that one Ducktales game, and many more. One thing we didn't like about gaming consoles, however, were their creepy error sounds. These sounds seem out of place for a console that was meant to entertain, are they?
6. PS2 - Red Screen of Death You might ask why I put this at #6. It's because I have owned a PS2 since I was 3-4 until a few years ago, and this sound/error never scared me. With all of that aside, let's talk about what this error contains. You will get this message if you put a disc that the PS2 cannot read. The PS2 will start up as normal, but will end with a red screen and a distorted start up sound.
5. Atari Jaguar - Red Screen of Death Although most of us haven't owned an Atari Jaguar, the ones who did will vividly remember getting crept out by this. This message will occur when a cartridge load error happens. The system will have a fiercer roar and a red screen.
4. Xbox - Random Sounds Picture this: You turn on your Xbox and then you go get a snack. You come back and realize that your Xbox is making strange sounds! Why? To make the console feel "futuristic", according to Microsoft. They also said that these are actually NASA transmissions from the Apollo days. There are also some deeply hidden sounds that will rarely play.
Note: You might have to turn up the volume a bit to hear the sounds that the Xbox is making.
3. PS1 - Fearful Harmony This will be one of the longer error messages on this list. You will get this message if you insert a disc that the PS1 can't read, such as a pirated game or a damaged disc. The system will start up as normal, but will show a distorted start up screen and will play "Fearful Harmony" in the background after some time.
2. Sega CD - CD Player Warning This message will play if you put a Sega CD game disc in a CD player instead of the Sega CD console. It contains a woman speaking firmly to turn off the CD player and distorted guitar riffs playing in the background. According to others who left the message playing, their speakers will break due to the high-pitched guitar noises that played. And I thought the hidden Sonic CD message was creepy...
1. PS1 - Personified Fear Although this sound is very fast, that's just enough time to make you feel uneasy. You will get this message if the bios if the bios of the system is corrupted, or if you insert a disc from the PS2, Xbox, etc. The PS1 will start up as normal, but it will end with a harsher swoosh and a black screen.
Special thanks goes to the YouTube user BizzareBub! Without him making this video, I would have never made this.
