How to beat Summer Boredom + Awesome Comp! (by Account deleted)

How To Beat Summer Boredom!

Most of you are either lucky enough to already be on Summer break, or aren't too far of it. And even if Summer's a very long time away in your country, I've put together some fabulous ideas (if I do say so myself:cry2:) that can keep boredom at bay anytime of the year! I've also tried to make sure that all of these things can be done on your own, or in a group. :-)

Bake a rainbow cake!

This is not only completely awesome and tasty, it's really easy too! I baked one for my mom's birthday last summer and it was a big success. You don't even have to stop there, once you've mastered the rainbow cake, why not try rainbow cupcakes? Or any sort of baking, it's really fun and not as difficult as people seem to think. Here's an easy rainbow cake recipe I found on youtube.:

Make a book/movies/tv shows list, or all three!

Summer is really the best time to get into reading or watch a new tv series, write a list of all the books, films and tv shows you've always wanted to watch or read and see how many you can fit in over the break. Here are a few of my favourites to start you off!

Books: The Charlie Bone Series, The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, This Lullaby and Along for The Ride (or any Sarah Dessen book really).

Movies: Pride and Prejudice, Mrs. Doubtfire, Despicable me and The Princess Diaries.

Tv Series: Freaks and Geeks, My So-Called Life, One Tree Hell and Agatha Christie's Poirot.

Start a new sport!

It's a scientific fact that exercise releases endorphins that make us feel HAPPY. So why do so many of try to stay as far away from it as we possibly can??! You don't have to jump right in at the deep end and join a swimming club (;)) or football team, taking up cycling or jogging or bopping along to fun workout videos on youtube is just as good, and practically free. So with all this free time on your hands, what are you waiting for?!

Get Journaling!

Journaling is one of my favourite things to do, ever. You can put absolutely anything you want in their, no matter how dumb or horrible or sad or whatever, because it's YOUR journal and YOU decide who gets to see it. It doesn't just have to be like a diary, you can post pictures of your favourite people, quotes you love, doodles, things people have said that really meant a lot to you, places you've been to, things that are important to you, rants, pets you've had, songs you love, ANYTHING and EVERYTHING! And one of the most fun parts about it is, once you're done it's something you have to look back on, to cheer you up when you're sad, or to cringe over when your fifty!!

Volunteer!

Trying to find a summer job these days is a heck of a lot harder than it used to be. If you are looking for a job and can't seem to find one, volunteering is a  pretty great option too. You can volunteer at a soup kitchen, old people's home, charity shop or anywhere you know of near you. Yes, the downside is you don't get paid, but each job has its perks and all that extra experience will look great on your CV in future!

Have a picnic!

There's something really really great about dining el fresco! You don't need to slave for hours making triangle sandwiches, cocktail sausages and  fancy sponge cake with strawberries and cream and then spend another three days travelling to some glorious modern park with picnic tables and the works. Grab a few of your favourite things to eat, a good book or music from your ipod, an old blanket, stroll outside to your garden and your all set!

Go DIY crazy!

Crafting is super fun and having something to show for it at the end is always very rewarding too. There are millions of easy, interesting DIY activities for you to do all over the internet, you don't even have to look any further than the Daily News on VP for some really fabulous ideas! Bbxochichxo101 always has wonderful DIY projects to try out on her Wednesday news. :-)

Play video games!

If you've been neglecting your Nintendo DS or Wii, or Play Station or computer or whatever, now's a great time to rekindle the love! Think of how much fun you used to have on those!?!? AND how addictive they are. :d I know I'm going to bring my Nintendo DS back in style this summer along with the help of Zelda, Professor Layton and my favourite animals down in Animal Crossing. 8)

I hope some of these ideas have helped, but the most important thing to make sure you do this summer is rest and refresh yourself for the year ahead. You deserve it! :)
