Hello everyone! Jess here with a (now) bi-monthly update with any changes and update recaps!
May has been a rather exciting month for updates as it's brought in not only new features for a new layout also. So here is a quick recap about the updates:
Filter using PD/Credit
Save more than 1 favourite outfit - up to 3
Display favourite outfits on profile
Marketplace being renamed 'Vintage'
and the new layout that we see today!
The admin team understand that when the changes were impacted a lot of glitches happened and uncertainty regarding a few things. May I let you know that we do appreciate all feedback given and going forward will look to help make VP a more enjoyable experience.
On the back of that also - I have spoken to Kaj regarding the wardrobe glitch also regarding the suggested outfits. It appears that this will be something that the programmer will need to look into going forward, so as soon as I hear anything on the back of this I'll let people know!
Updates, updates, updates.
Everyone asks for them, but when they come, they tend to lead to a lot of complaints as well.
In the early half of the month, Jess revealed there were a lot of updates on their way, all of them supposed to be fully implemented on May 18th.
The updates were the following:
Marketplace changed name to Vintage (most likely inspired by goSupermodel?). A lot of people felt this name change was very unnecessary, and it will probably take a long while for the name to catch on.
It has now become possible to sell full sets in Marketplace (or, rather, Vintage), which is a great improvement. The store is now split in two: one as we know it for single items, and a separate store for full sets. Another update to help shopping is a filter to sort prices in PD and CR.
Another sought after the update is the possibility to save multiple favourite outfits. It is now possible to save up to six outfits (compared to the one we were used to), and these can be shown in a kind of ‘lookbook’ one the users’ profile pages.
However, the downside to this update is that any already saved outfit was deleted in the process.
The last update was of the page itself, and this was definitely the update that caused the most discussion and uproar. Many things on the page were re-designed by Solovey, including everything from the background image to team and forum icons. Even the text font used on the site was changed. A lot of people complained about these things in the beginning, believing them either unnecessary or finding them to make it harder to read the text (finding the font too small or the general brightness too high), but slowly people have gotten mostly used to them. The new icons (especially the team badges that in some cases have changed quite a bit) continue to cause discussion as many preferred the old versions.
Even though there has been many complaint about parts of the updates, they were overall a great improvement to the site and included multiple functions users have been yearning after for a long while. And the new ones will surely grow on us as well.
May 4th to May 5th held the monthly auctions. Lily made an absolutely adorable frog set for both females (PD set) and males (CR set). The female CR set was made by Wishbone while Crown made the male PD set, contrasting Wishbone’s very extravagant dresses with a cute and casual outfit.
This month’s Mega Credit Week ran from April 29th to May 5th and featured some truly gorgeous sets. This month it was a “Super” Mega Credit Week, as buyers received an extra set as bonus along with every set they bought, not just one bonus set in total!
Thanks to Solovey, there were quite a theme among the female bonus sets: Winx club. These bonus sets were very popular, and even got 20% on the otherwise relatively evenly distributed votes on the favourite set(s) poll. However, everything wasn’t Winx and featured many different designers and design types; from Ad0xa’s space cats to Lily’s (September) colourful hair and adorable bunnies to Solovey’s Empress of China.
The second quarter of DT’s “Design Motivation” began early in April which means a new design motivation set was selected and announced. If you want the beautiful set by Eifos, you need to submit 3 different designs and all 3 need to pass the quality control. Your design need to include following things:
♡ Shirt/dress
♡ Pants/skirt/shorts
♡ Shoes
♡ Hair
♡ Not mandatory but they still suggest: accessories.
Now it’s time to summarise all the latest competition activity, and for May it started with SMT’s “who wore it best” continuing from last month. This competition, where both females and males were supposed to style a turquoise hair, closed already on May 4, and we’re excited to see who the winners of those beautiful Solovey prize hairs are going to be.
The next competition this month was also a recurring one that many knows about, ET’s design competition. This time around the theme was fantasy, and if you take a look through the forum (here) you can see all the amazingly creative entries that have been sent in.
This month’s final competition was a classic dress-up hosted by ET called “back to the 90s”. For this one the theme was, as the name suggests, a throwback to 90s film and television, and you were supposed to dress up as one of your favorite characters from that decade. The winners of this competition was announced a week later, and ten lucky females won a set designed by Myung while all the males who participated won a set by Cyberpunk.
If we go back to last month’s easter festivities you might remember ET’s “hippity hop” dress up. The winners of this competition was announced early in May and 10 bunnies (5 female and 5 male) won 1000 cr each!
Lastly, in the collaborative competition between ET and YT it was announced that everyone who participated in making an advertisement video for vp would be awarded with the prize, and as only female accounts participated the male set would be raffled out instead. You can check out all of the creative videos here!
Congratulations to all winners!
