DA: ShadowJess (by Private)

It has been a while since the last Designer Appreciation, but now we are finally back with one. This designer is an OG on Virtualpopstar, she got the designer badge back in 2013 and was badged for almost 9 years! Even though she is no longer a badged designer she is still designing from time to time so I’m sure we haven’t seen the last design from her yet. The Designer Appreciation is, of course, for Shadowjess!

Thank you Jess for letting me interview you for your own DA. I hope you will enjoy it so it was worth the wait.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? (age, where you're from, hobbies besides designing, any fun facts about you that you want to share)

Hey, I'm 29 (nearly 30, urk) from the UK! Apart from denning and being one of VPs oldest termed residents my hobbies include drawing and lately I've taken to Youtubing for the fun! Also nabbled in making art dolls and sewing

How long have you been designing for vp and what initially sparked your interest in doing so?

I was a badged designer from Feb 2013 until January 2022. Most of my interest was because I wanted to be a JD on GSM but wasn’t good enough haha

Where do you get your design inspiration?

I get most of my inspiration from either Pinterest pins that are interesting or have some insisting items or any games I'm playing

What program do you use for designing? And do you use a mouse or a drawing tablet?

I use photoshop CS4 and a wacom One graphics tablet (it technically Claire's but I steal it from her haha)

Approximately how long does it take you to design one set?

Can take between 4-48 hours depending on the design.

How much time do you spend designing on a weekly/monthly basis?

I'd say about up to 48 throughout the month when I was a part of DT, now it's more like 12 a month as I'm slowly getting back into designing following my hiatus.

Do you have a set that means something special to you or that had a special story behind it when you created it? Can you tell us why / what that story is?

Hm a special set...I probably have to say this one. No funny reason in particular but because it was a collaboration with my wife.

Notice how the layout unintentionally matches the design in the interview?
