Books have been a part of our world for an extremely long time. The ability to fathom stories and worlds, put them together with a different combination of letters and print them on paper and then bind the paper together to create something that tends to stick in someone's heart forever is astonishing. Books are something that most people love and cherish, no matter in what form, what size, what shape, what length or any other variable.
It seems impossible to measure when the first book was ever written. It seems though, that the first writing (a system of linguistic symbols which permit one to transmit and conserve information) appeared between the seventh millennium B.C. and the fourth millennium B.C. It first appeared in mnemonic symbols, which is a learning technique that offers information, such as counting the months with your knuckles. Later, symbolic and alphabetic writing emerged. Clay tablets with writing have been found from as far back as 3rd millennia B.C!
So, writing is literally part of our history. It's been found on cave walls and clay tablets to bone and shells. It's intertwined with our world and some books are even the center of people's culture! Books like the Bible have huge influences on our culture and have for hundreds of years!
There are also non-religious books and literature that are always remembered in our world. A few examples are "A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens, "The Lord of the Rings" by J. R. R. Tolkien, "The Catcher In the Rye" by J.D. Salinger, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and many more. In our modern era a few notable books and series are "A Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky, the "Harry Potter" series by J.K. Rowling and "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. These books have even had huge influences on our world, with the "Harry Potter" series which has influenced a huge generation of kids and "was their childhood." "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" has shown high school life as is and inspired hundreds of people and still is. "The Hunger Games" is the new thing, with hundreds of fans falling head over heels for characters and even inspiring some kids to try archery! These books and many others have formed friendship, fandoms, relationships and so much more!
It seems proven at this point that books are such an important part of this world, written in our histories and across our world, brought from days long ago to now in the modern world. They've helped us share information, learn things and share things. They've helped progressed our world in a million ways (or more)! Books have inspired many and still are.
Anyone can write a book if they try. They can be the next person to inspire thousands and do so much more! So are you going to be the next person to have a hand in shaping history and our world?
