Back in the 1940’s there was a totally different vibe and style than this moment in time. One of the biggest factors that made the 1940’s fashion was the fabrics. Many people dressed in wool, tweed, linen, cotton, silk, nylon, or blends of all mixed together. These fabrics made for a distinct and wonderful style and trend back then. Many of the women back then also wore fur and such.
If you were to wear a dress back in the 40’s it would most likely be flattering to your figure. A lot of people wore a type of dress that accented there figure and made it more of an hourglass figure. Many dresses, shirts, and coats had shoulder pads in them. This made them have a military feel to them. The skirts and dresses were not skin tight like some of the clothing in our generation, they were not very loose either, they were just right. Later around 1942 the two piece skirt came into style. This was one of the most fashionable things back then. The dresses were very unique and wonderful.
The hairstyles in the 1940 era happened to be very different than the way we all wear our hair now. We wear hair straightened or in pony tails, or even in fancy updos. But back then the hair was very creative and interesting. We would consider it an antique hair due. The hairstyles had a lot of weight on your head then. There were many curls around the neck part of the girl’s hairstyle. The hairstyles differed tremendously from the 1930’s and from now of course. That is why the 1940’s was such an important fashion era for all of us.
