Tips For Cooling Down in the Summer Heat!

It's the middle of July and the temperature is rising- you feel if you get any hotter, you're going to melt! No matter what you do, you cannot cool down! How can you avoid this heat and cool down, you keep asking yourself. Well, that's what I'm going to tell today!

Cooling yourself down:

  • Keep a cool spray bottle with you or in your fridge. This way, when you get too hot you can just spray some cool mist on you to cool down. But remember- don't leave the spray bottle itself out in the heat! You don't want to accidently spray yourself with warm water! Yuck!

  • Put a cold washcloth around your neck. Dip a washcloth in cold water, ring it out and put it around your neck. This way, you can cool down easily and quickly.

  • Cool down your whole house!

  • Drink cold beverages. This way, you can quench your thirst while cooling yourself down. This goes for cold food as well!

  • Wear a water soaked bandana on your head! This will cool you from the head down and can start a new fashion statement!

    Cooling your house down:

  • Cover places that lights and heat come in! Put shades over windows, glass doors and other areas that light bleeds through. Sunlight is a source of heat, so blocking out sunlight can help block out heat.

  • Turn off the lights. Light bulbs, especially incandescent light bulbs, give off heat easily. Bask in the cool shadows of your house with the lights off. Even though it can seem like such a small thing, turning off the lights can help. Also, it can help with reducing your energy consumption!

  • If there is a cool breeze, use natural ventilation. This way, you can avoid using energy-consuming air conditioners and fans. Take advantage of what mother nature has to offer!

  • Open the windows at night. The temperature tends to drop at night as there is a lack of sunlight. Open the windows to let the cool air circulate around your house and cool it down naturally.

  • Use air conditioning and/or fans to get the air circulating and to create a cool breeze.

  • Don't use appliances that radiate heat, such as ovens, washers, driers and other items. They will just heat up the house.

Activities that will cool you down: rn
  • Go ice skating! If there is an indoor ice area near you, grab your skates and go ice skate or even just chill in there! Temperatures in ice areas are always cool.

  • Use a slip'n'slide! These are always fun to use in the summer and are even better on a hot summer day! Invite some friends over to join you!

  • Run through the sprinkler! This one is a personal favourite of mine. Set up a sprinkler with cool water somewhere on your lawn and run through it! Much like the spray bottle, it will cool you down!

  • Go swimming! Whether at an ocean, a pool, a lake or even in your own bathtub, relax in some cool water! This will cool you off instantly- and it's fun too!

  • Go to different places such as museums or even just go shopping! Temperatures in public places like that are almost always cool and air conditioned. Go window shopping or explore a place you've never been!

Well, that's all the tips I have. Hopefully they help you cool down this summer!
