Cross Country/Track and Field:
Osgood-Schlatter disease: I personally have this disease. I ran track throughout my career in grade and middle school. I never had any problems. I did not do any sports my freshman year and when I started training for the Cross Country season for my sophomore year I was in a tremendous amount of pain.
It is characterized by a painful lump below the knee. It is mostly seen between the ages of 7-16. It also causes a tremendous amount of pain, swelling, and adds difficulty walking.
Shin Splints: They are characterized by irritated and swollen muscles. Which is often from overuse. They can be caused by stress fractures (which are tiny breaks in the lower leg bones) or overpronation or flat feet which makes the impact of your arch collapse.
Ways to treat it are resting, icing, getting an arch support for your shoes, and getting physical therapy if needed.
Volleyball:
Frozen Shoulder: It is a condition with over inflammation of your shoulder. This causes your shoulder to be stiff and tight, it is also worse at night. The best way to treat this is with inflammation medicine and physical therapy.
Sprained Fingers: These are very common in Volleyball. They happen when you your finger is straight and it collides with the volleyball. It is also known as jamming your finger. The best way to treat it is by putting your finger in a splint and icing!
Soccer:
Concussion: This can become an issue in many sports, not just Soccer. It can happen with an extreme blow to the head or sudden impact to your head. Symptoms can include a headache, dizziness, nausea, pupil enlargement, etc. The best thing to do is see a doctor.
Tendinitis: Tendinitis is a common general injury in many sports. It is an inflammation of the tendon. It comes from overuse of the tendon. Main symptoms are pain, swelling, weakness, and inflammation.
Football:
ACL/Meniscus Injury: An ACL is a part of your knee, it is one of the four ligaments in your knee. When it tears or gets injured you will have extreme pain. It is common after a blow to the knee. You can also have another cause in your knee called a meniscus. If it has been made in any way you have either consult a doctor.
Dislocated Shoulder: A dislocated shoulder is so common in football because all of the trauma is inflicted on your body.
If you think you have been injured in any way consult a doctor. I hope you learned from the information given above! Stay safe!
