DIY spring decorations (by Private)

I’m sure the thought of spring is quite pleasant. Especially since most of you are currently trudging through snow and wishing it would all melt! While you may not be in love with my ideas, I swear to you that there are MILLIONS more and this is just to give you some pep and inspiration to find some! I suggest going to youtube and typing DIY spring room decorations. ;) Let’s begin!

DIY Vase
(for flowers/pencils/anything)

If you plan to use flowers, I suggest fake because they vary in colors, are inexpensive, and last practically forever. Other than that, you can put anything that you please in it.
As far as the actual vase, you will need..

  • A jar (I used a salsa jar!)
  • Paint (bright colors suggested)
  • String (optional)
  1. Let’s start! First take your jar and wash it with really hot water. This will destroy the scent of whatever product was in there, as well as clean it.
  2. Once you do that, dry it. Then take your paints and paint it how you wish. I did a slight ombre effect, but made it a bit more homemade by just having fun with it and making little imperfections. Paint the jar until it’s nice and opaque, allow it to dry in between layers if needed, however I didn't need to. Once you’re done, let it dry just a LITTLE, not completely.
  3. This is where the string comes in. Begin wrapping it around the neck of the jar, and continue going down until you reach the bottom. The purpose of leaving the paint semi-wet is so that as the jar dries, the string dries to that paint, avoiding the use of hot glue. Then you’re done! You can make multipe DIY jars and use one for flowers, one for pencils/pens, and even tealight candles!
  4. Adjust your flowers (cut, arrange, etc) and put them in. I also sprayed the flowers with my favorite perfume scent, you should too!
Here are pictures similar to mine, as well as ideas for you!

Flower line!

This next one is SUPER cute, and reminds me of Christmas…but with flowers!

You will need an assortment of flowers. I would suggest buying at most 3 different colors so you can form a pattern. You will need white christmas lights or yarn, if so preferably matching the color of the paint on your wall. You will also need some thumbtacks or nails, and last but not least, a hot glue gun.

You are going to take your flowers and cut them off of the stems. Once all your flowers are cut, it’s time to cut the yarn. Decide where you want to hang this. Once you figure that out, you can decide how long it needs to be. If using Christmas lights, try to buy ones that aren't too long, it all depends on where you're hanging it!

I would most likely tape this at each end of my bed's headboard. That way I could plug it in behind my bed and have the cord hidden. Keep in mind I haven't done this DIY myself, I've only just finished the first one!

Take your flowers and hot glue them to the string/christmas lights. Once they're all hot glued, check again to make sure they are all safe and secure.

The toughest part of this, which isn't even tough at all, is hanging it. Since the flowers are on such a thin surface, they may seem a bit floppy. Just take some time to pin your lights/yarn on the wall and then adjust any droopy flowers with nails.

Placing this on your roof would be adorable, especially at night when you get to plug in your lights. Where ever you place this is up to you, I'm sure something will come to mind. :)

You can alter the idea to fit YOUR liking. The point of the DIY's I do are to inspire you, not limit you! Here are some example photos:

Hope you guys enjoy! The point of this is to get you in a creative mood, you do NOT have to do those two DIY's. We are all different in what we like and I happened to like those two, although there are millions more for you to choose from. xox
