• In the past week a new Pope, Argentinian Jorge Mario Bergoglio, has been elected Pope Francis I, replacing Pope Benedict XVI who resigned last month.

• Walt Disney World in Florida is planning to expand Downtown Disney with an outdoor retail complex called Disney Springs, which will add many more restaurants and retail shops.

•  Police has uncovered literature on other mass shootings in Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter Adam Lanza's home, leading police to believe that the shooting was planned rather than an impulse.

• A 600 year old Chinese coin, which has been deemed authentic has been found in Kenya. The coin is believed to be from the "Chinese Christopher Columbus" Zheng He when he explored Africa in the 15th century.

• New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's proposal for a ban on large soda drinks over 16 oz has been turned down by a Manhattan judge. Bloomberg plans to appeal.
