Halloween Safety Tips (by Account deleted)

With Halloween on our doorsteps, it's time to talk about the important stuff: How to stay safe while still having fun. Here are some tips to help you make the most of your night of ghosts and most importantly, candy.

  • Always travel in a group. Not only does it increase your safety, but Trick-or-treating is always more fun with friends.
  • Younger people should be accompanied by an adult/ someone older. if you don't want to be seen with your parents, ask an older sibling. Older teens are always looking for an excuse to go trick-or-treating.
  • Do not enter a strangers home. There should be no reason for you to enter someone's home, unless you know them, especially alone.
  • Avoid masks. While they can look good, masks decrease visibility, especially when it is already dark. If you have a mask, make sure you are able to see properly out of it.
  • Watch for cars. While most drivers on Halloween are cautious and on the look out, some drivers can still be reckless. Make sure to stay on sidewalks, and watch for cars when crossing the road.
  • Avoid costumes that are too long. They can be easily tripped over.
  • Use glow sticks. They are fun, and help cars see you, especially if you are wearing an all black costume like a witch or vampire.
  • Do not go to unlit houses. Most places will keep the light off if they do not participate in Halloween. Respect their choices, and move to the next house. There will be plenty of candy elsewhere.
  • Always check your candy before you eat it. If it is open, do not eat it. While most candy will be fine to eat, there have been cases of people trying to harm kids.
  • The most important rule? HAVE FUN! This only happens once a year, so have fun, be scared, and eat lots of candy!
