DIY Bath Bombs (by Sareureuk )

You will need dry ingredients and liquid ingredients. Starting with the dry ingredients you will need:
• Sodium bicarbonate (or baking soda): 100 grams
• Citric acid: 50 grams
• Corn starch: 50 grams (I’ve seen recipes without corn starch so this is entirely up to you if you want to use it)
• Bath salts: 50 grams (these are optional, but they’re nice to have in your little bath bombs, they make baths more relaxing)
• Dried herbs or petals (optional; you can pick them from your own garden and leave them to dry)
• Cosmetic glitter (optional; in case you are feeling extra fab. Must be cosmetic and not craft glitter)

Now, to the liquid ingredients:
• A little bit of water in a spray bottle
• Essential oils
• Food coloring (optional but very fun to use; do not use more than 2-3 drops, maybe 4, you do not want to leave stains on your bathtub)

We’ve all seen bath bombs in shops, colorful pictures on tumblr, pintrest or weheartit. It seems like bath bombs have become popular in these past years. What is so interesting about them though? They are fun, colorful and they have a pleasant fragrance. But did you know that they are also very easy to make? So if you want bath bombs, but do not have them in your area, or you find them expensive, you can also make them at home. So how about we get started then? Alright!

Let’s get on to making these beautiful wonders. First the dry ingredients. You measure the bicarbonate of sodium and the citric acid and mix them in a bowl (if you’re using corn starch and/or bath salts you will mix them together with the bicarbonate of sodium and the citric acid). Mix until there are no big lumps.

Step 2: You make a well with your finger in the middle of the dry mix and pour the essential oil/s, about 5-6 drops, depending on how strong the scent is you can add more or less. Then pour the food coloring, dried herbals/petals or cosmetic glitter if you are using them.

Step 3: Put on a pair of rubber gloves (as citric acid is a little irritating) and stir and mix until there are no lumps in the bowl.

Step 4: Using a spritzer bottle spray water around 10 times on top of the mixture. This binds it all together. After you’ve sprayed it, it starts to harden. Quick! Grab your molds and put the mixture into those molds. Be it an ice cube tray, hearty, little balls, anything you want. Don’t forget to compress it really well.

Step 5: Leave them overnight to harden

Step 6: Enjoy your own, handmade bath bombs! You’ve worked hard, you deserve a nice relaxing bath

The fun making your own bath bombs is that you can use ANY essential oils, mix them up as you like, use any food coloring or get a little crazy with them and make different colors, use whatever flowers and color glitter you want. It will all be lovely in the end.

Tip: In need of a gift and don’t know what to buy? Make some bath bombs. They will be highly appreciated.

Thank you Unashamed for this lovely layout

I understand that this took you time and effort but where are the pictures? and why is the background so dull for such a fun DIY?

When I made a DIY article I took my own pictures and it was my own DIY because i added little twists to it to make it more original.

Sadly though I didn't have any pictures of the ones I made, plus they wouldn't have been any fun because when we did our chemistry project we didn't have the food coloring. They were just plain white ):

But if I ever make any bath bombs again [hopefully I'll find the time to do it again] I will post some pictures in forums

They really are fun to make. And even more fun when you see them sizzle. I made some about 4 years ago... or was it 5? for a chemistry contest with a classmate. Really cute and easy to make

Oohh, I love the layout Simone!
Even though it could be a bit brighter, I like how you can read everything and the boxes aren't too small. clap
