Christmas is fast approaching us and everyone is preparing. Presents are being bought, trees are being put up and people are buying food for Christmas dinner. Around the world Christmas is the same thing for us, we all put up trees and buy each other presents. One thing that does change from country to country is the food that we eat on Christmas day. For this article I decided to see just how different Christmas dinners from around the world are. I asked some people from VP and this is what I found out. What do people in the UK eat for Christmas dinner? Myself and Zoe, LonelyTimelord will tell you.
Zoe:
For Christmas dinner me and my family eat roast beef, mashed potatoes, pigs in blankets (for those who might now know, pigs in blankets are small sausages wrapped in bacon) and cheese wrapped in bacon. We also have Black Forrest gateau dessert. We sometimes also have a cheeseboard with my favourite apple wood smoked cheese and then some after eights.

Our Christmas dinner is pretty much a three course meal. Me and my family have two different starters, one for people who like prawns and then one for those who don't. For the people who don't like prawns we have fish cakes and salad . For those who do like prawns they have a traditional prawn cocktail. After the starter we move onto the main. For this we have gammon, roast turkey, roast potatoes, boiled potatoes, cabbage, carrots, broccoli, sprouts, pigs in blankets, Yorkshire puddings and stuffing. For dessert we have something different every year. This year we are going for a chocolate orange present dessert. This is all accompanied by lots of alcohol.

My family makes both a ham and turkey. We also have mashed potatoes and gravy, baked beans, buttered rolls, green bean casserole and sliced beets. We will also have some sort of dessert that is usually pumpkin based.
Heather:
For Christmas dinner me and my family usually make a ham and eat ham roll ups, mash potatoes, biscuits. We also have different casseroles such as tuna, broccoli and spinach. We also have scalloped potatoes and homemade bread.

Some of the things usually eaten at a Swedish Christmas dinner is cured salmon, Christmas ham, pickled Herring, beetroot salad, Janssons Frestelse (after a little research I found out what this is in English, it's a casserole made of potatoes, onions, pickled sprats, bread crumbs and cream), red and green cabbage, meatballs, prince sausage (small sausage), boiled potatoes or potato salad and cream sauce, risgrynsgröt (a sort of rice pudding with cinnamon, milk, sugar and cardamom. It can also be served with an almond. According to tradition, whoever gets the almond will be married within a year. This can be served in the morning or after dinner). There are also different types of drinks served such as Christmas beer, snaps and julmust. (A Swedish fizzy drink.
Fiskarna:
My family and I usually eat marinated roast beef, pickled herring, Prinskorv (small sausage)
meatballs Gravad lax (cured salmon), potatoes and Janssons Frestelse.
