Horror movies have always been a big part of the film industry. While there are many that are borderline unwatchable, whether for its overuse of gore, or the movie isn't the greatest, there have been many masterpieces to grace the big screen. Some of my favorites include Cabin in the Woods, The Conjuring, Paranormal Activity, and The Ring.
While there isn't an extensive list of horror movies coming out this summer,or at least ones I find interesting, here are 2 of them I'm looking forward to the most.
Thanks to Krystle for making this wonderful layout.
The Conjuring 2
Based off the Ed and Lorraine Warren files, this movie is sure to frighten even the most veteran of horror movie enthusiasts. In the second installment of the series, the Warrens travel to London to help a single mother of 4 deal with a rather unwelcome house guest; a demon. the trailer is suspenseful and scary, without hopefully giving away too much of what to expect from the movie.
As a regular horror movie watcher, the first movie is one of my personal favourite horror movies, placing second only to Cabin in the Woods. The first movie was one of the only movies that ever made me feel scared while watching it.
The Conjuring 2 has some big shoes to fill after the success of the first film, and I hope it will live up to expectations and maybe even surpass the first.
The Conjuring 2 hits theatres June 10th.

Lights Out
Lights Out is an interesting horror movie based on a short of the same name (which can be found on YouTube if anyone is interested in checking it out). The movie focuses on a spirit of sorts that lives in the shadows and darkness of the house. She can only be seen when the lights are off.
The trailer made me jump the first time I saw it. While it doesn't seem like something that would normally scare me, it looks very entertaining and looks to be one you'll be talking about. A friend of mine slept with the light on for weeks after watching the trailer. Needless to say I'll be dragging her to see this movie with me.
Lights Out hits theatres July 22nd.
