Ever get that feeling in the pit of your stomach that something just isn't right? Maybe you get a bad feeling about a party you're invited to, or that tiny voice in your head is telling you to take a different path to school one day without any logical reason. What you are experiencing is your intuition, and it can be very hard to explain at times. The best way to describe intuition is that it's a combination of subconscious elements based on experiences, how you are feeling, and your surroundings. These three things combine to give you what your brain thinks to be the best way to handle a situation.
I have learned to trust my gut feeling as much as possible. Some of my friends think I have some sort of psychic energy, but really I'm just listening to what my gut is telling me. It has helped me avoid situations and learn to better read my surroundings. Here are some signs to pay attention to in order to better understand your intuition:
If you feel in any way you shouldn't do something, don't do it. This is the easiest example of your intuition. Your mind is telling you something isn't right and you should definitely listen to it.
Focus on your heartbeat. If you feel it increasing when thinking about a certain situation, start asking yourself why.
Are your hands sweaty? Maybe you're fidgeting? This could be a sign that your brain is nervous about something that you haven't noticed yet.
All in all, just try listening to your body. Not only can it help you steer clear of unfavourable situations, but it can also help you learn to read the people and environment around you. That new person giving you some weird vibes? Probably not best to try and become their best friend.
