Summer vacation means there’s finally free time to do the things we love doing! Hiking, swimming, sleeping, going away from home, and anything else you can imagine. A popular thing, however, is movie watching! From romance to comedy, horror, or action, there’s a movie out there to please someone. I’m going to highlight just three of the upcoming movies for the summer of 2016! Some are well known, and others may be something for you to look into!
Finally getting its sequel, Finding Dory takes place one year from the ending of Finding Nemo. Presented by Disney and Pixar, our favourite aquatic cast come back in this family friendly summer film! Alongside with original characters, there are new ones being introduced as well in Dory’s newest adventure in the California coast line. There’s been trailers featuring Crush the Sea Turtle, a possible LGBT couple featured in the movie, while old and new friends help Dory’s quest on finding her mother! There’s not much time left before the movie premieres on June 17th!
Personally, this is the movie I am most excited to see since I read this novel when I was in grade school. The novel written by Roald Dahl, The BFG features a young London girl meeting a big, friendly, giant who shows her the wonders of Giant Country. The characters go through plenty of adventures, and there’s a strong theme of wonder and exploration throughout the novel and anticipated movie! Dahl was also the author of several other titles including, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, James and The Giant Peach, Matilda and many other loved books! The BFG hits the big screens July 1st!
Alright, this is the only adult rated movie, and it rightfully deserves said rating. I suggest if you haven’t seen the trailer yet, please do so. If you’re a fan of comedy and adult-oriented humor, then Sausage Party is an animated movie for you to consider viewing this August. Revolving around the main character being a sausage and his friends questioning their existence as they attempt to journey back to their shelves in the supermarket before the major Fourth of July sale. The movie includes actors like James Franco, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, and others featured as well! Sausage Party releases August 12th.
