ReportHow political correctness and SJW has ruined everything
... for me, at least...

I tried to create a debate around this video of how good old politeness might be a better solution, and why political correctness is often pretty annoying. No one really responded (you can watch the video here), probably because its somewhat long, but I find it pretty interesting.

Political correctness hasn't exactly been a new invention, but in the past couple of years the socalled "Social Justice Warriors" have given the word an entirely new meaning. Although the intention is good and that in itself is admirable, the method is annoying and unnecessary.

I live in a multicultural area. What some might call a "ghetto" or "semi-ghetto" (although we've had some shootings and band criminality, its not really that bad imo), but it has a rather negative feel. Since I got a baby, I often attend to these family orientated events that the Culture House across the street arranges. I've met a lot of different mothers from the neighborhood, white as well as black, Asian and eastern European.
Recently we attended this local festival with a lot of (for me) small unknown bands, mostly "excotic" artists. One of the most interesting ones was this African band playing traditional African tribe music while dancing among the audience. You can't watch that thing and not get a smile on your face!

But as I stood there, watching this "exotic culture experience", I felt more white than ever. I felt out of place, even though half of the people there were white too. I don't know exactly was it was, but I felt like some stupid tourist - in my own local area. Like we white people allegedly don't have a culture on our own, we suck the life out of everyone eleses. Or something like that, at least. I don't know why I suddenly thought like this, but I just did.

I think one of the reasons I got this feeling, is this constant 'white shaming' or whatever you want to call it, that a lot of SJW people do. You get judged for the fact that you're born white, regardless of who you are and your social status in society. In other words, you get judged (negatively) for the colour of your skin, and nothing else. Sounds familiar? No, because white racism doesn't exist, right? Either way,  it creates this "us and them" mentality, and that creates a cleft between people and races. How does that even make sense, in an attempt to create more acceptance among cultures and races? It only divides people further. I didn't choose to be born white, but I do choose how I treat other people. Judge me for that, and not my skin colour.

When I was a kid political correctness wasn't a hyperfocus thing as it is today, even though it was still a thing to be aware of. There wasn't as many people of colour, especially not where I grew up. But when I did see a black person, I obviously noticed the fact that he/she looked different than me, and I wondered what they were like as a person. It was an observation about the fact that this person didn't look like me, but in a neither negative nor positive way. Just a blank observation. Now when I notice a black person, and I notice that I think "this person looks different than me", I instantly feel like I should be ashamed. Because you're "not meant to see colour". Its a bullshit term. Everyone sees colour, and there is nothing wrong with that. The racism begins when you think less of someone because of the colour, not just observe the fact that they have a different colour than you.
It feels like I'm supposed to be extra nice and open because they are a person of colour and a minority. Which is also bullshit. I'm supposed to be nice and open to everyone, regardless of who they are, and no matter if they are a minority or not.

The thing that I like the video for, is the point about how political correctness also effects your private thoughts. Although thoughts is obviously a direct connection to your opinion about the world around you, its stupid to have to feel ashamed about thoughts that aren't even harmful, just because some SJW people have hit people in the head with clubs about these things. Its the actions that truly counts.
Its like meeting someone with an butt ugly shirt on, but you know that has nothing to do with the wearers personality, so you're still nice. You don't get ashamed for not sharing the same fashion sense, you're just polite enough not to mention it. You still treat the person with respect, but you don't feel like an asshole just for thinking something that you know really isn't relevant, as long as you don't judge the person based on it.
