Georgia's Perspective. |
A Hipster is a person who sometimes follows the latest trends and fashions, or sets their own trends which then become popular, whereas some Hipsters like to be totally original and vintage. Many hipsters like something which is unknown, and then immediately stop liking it when that certain 'unknown thing' becomes popular. Hipsters are 'different', and love wearing vintage clothing and listening to unknown bands. The term 'Hipster' is loosely thrown around so it's hard to define exactly what a hipster is. A hipster usually has dyed hair, wears sunglasses, skinny jeans and has at least one tie-dye shirt in their wardrobe. The hipster fashion is now becoming more mainstream than ever and in fact, most people labelled as a "hipster" don't even know what 'hipster' means. One of the definitions of being a hipster is being 'different'...
-Now onto my perspective of the term "hipster"; So basically, from my perspective and viewpoint, I think that the term hipster is really overused and quite stupid. I'm different. I wear tie-dye clothing and sunglasses and skinny jeans. Does that make me a hipster? No. In ways, Hipsters believe that they are better than others because they wear ironic labelled shirts and are popular because they are a fairly retro person and because they are 'vintage'. I think hipsters can be quite arrogant, and I know this because I've been branded as a hipster myself- and that really annoyed me. Hipsters generally shop in thrift stores and love possessing items which other people don't have. Some Hipsters love themselves and adorn themselves with body piercings and tattoo's, which they then come to regret getting in later life. I know a girl who has over 10 piercings about 6 tattoo's dotted around her body because she wanted to be 'different'. She then had to fork out over £5000 to get the tattoo's removed or covered up. I believe that people can do whatever they want, be whoever they want to be, but I think that being a "hipster" is just a temporary lifestyle. Well, that's my perspective for now. Maybe, in a few weeks, there will be a new perspective and opinion of mine to look at! Thanks for reading this blog post. -Picture of myself, being a 'hipster', because I'm wearing a Tie-Dye top which I made.
