Holidays |
Did you know that there are at least three different holidays on February 14th? Let's talk about that! You know Valentine's Day. I don't think I have to explain it. As a mere karaoke star, the tabloids aren't talking about anyone I may or may not be dating (thank God, for the tabloids are condescending trash), but there might be someone.... Anyway, tomorrow my friend is going to the store to buy lots and lots of half-price candy. I remember last year when she and my roommate did the same thing. They got about $120 worth of candy for about $50. Impressive, right?! Today is also Ferris Wheel Day. (Explains the cliched amusement park date in which the couple gets a beautiful view of the park from atop the Ferris wheel, doesn't it?) George Ferris, who invented the Ferris wheel, was born on February 14, 1859, so it is only proper that we celebrate him today, no? The final holiday I want to share with you is Organ Donor Day. Do you know someone who's an organ donor? Thank them, for without them, human health overall would not be as good as it is. My favorite celebration of this day that I remember was a couple years ago. A friend of mine made cupcakes and drew impressively anatomically correct organs with decorator frosting atop the cupcakes. I hope you have a lovely day. ~Seychelle |
