Story 2 |
So my hunt for the one or more people that have not been stupefied began. Since everybody simply was paralyzed, there was no danger. I could wander as I pleased, and that was exactly what I did. I searched every house for both possible survivants and weapons that could help me overcome this sudden incident. I was probably searching around the ninth, eighth or tenth house when a sudden squirming sound disturbed my search. I paused and looked up, not making a single sound so that it would be easier for me to listen. Another sound. I tip-toed up the stairs of the house. Halfway up, the squirm came again, and this time louder. I went up the rest of the stairs. Fainter. I went back down halfway. Louder. The person who’s alive must be somewhere around here. I knocked on the wall. “Hello? I’m here to help! Come out.” There was a thump in the wall. Is that person like, actually inside the wall or something like that? I knocked and repeated the message. A teeny part of the wall popped out, and I caught the piece. A girl stuck her head out. She looked around my age, thirteen or so. “Is it you?” “I want to help you. Seems like we’re the only ones… alive.” “Yes! I was so scared when my parents didn’t answer any of my calls. When I went up to look for them they were just… frozen.” “Mine too. My name’s Jimmy. What’s your name?” “My name’s Emma.” |
