40+5 |
Still waiting to give birth. We had an appointment at the midwife today, and everything looked fine. His heartbeat was good, and he wasn't too big. She assured me that I didn't have reason to worry about things like c-section, unless there would be some severe complications during birth, but otherwise nothing indicated that I would need that. We've been impatient like fuck the past week, mostly because you just wait for something that could happen any moment, but doesn't. I wanted to talk about induction with the midwife, and we discussed if there were any reason to consider it now, and if there were any risks involved. As it is pretty common for first time moms to go over due, she didn't think there were any reason to consider it already. But if nothing happened before saturday, we should give them a call and get examed to maybe get induced a few days later. We were also offered to take part in a study they offer over due pregnant women from 40+6 to see if giving a low dose of the induction medicine they usually use, could help an induction or even encourage natural birth. Over the past few days we've discussed induction a lot, and what it means for the babys development to go over due. Although we are both impatient, my fiance found some studies showing that there is a slight significant in increased intelligence among people who was born after due date. Obviously there is a reason its the baby who decides when things should be set in motion, and he will decide when he's ready, but he can't stay in there forever. I've been impatient like fuck the past week and really considered induction, but now that we actually have a chance to maybe help it along with this study thing, that we can take part in already tomorrow, I'm not even so sure. I had to remind myself that I actually wanted everything to be as natural as possible. So far I guess we'll just keep on waiting. Who knows, maybe labour starts in a few hours, maybe they don't. Either way, saturday will be the new deadline (or at least, it will be a deadline for something to happen, as they don't exactly induce that day, but just examen to determine if there is reason to). |
