Maybe depends on the boarding school and the person but I only went "home" during summer and we did everything ourselves except cooking on school days. My school was 4hrs away from home and I never went home during other breaks and weekends, I think classmates who lived closer and went home every weekend maybe didn't count it as moving out idk. But I did and considered boarding school my home and not the place my mother had

its kinda like moving out lite edition
first time where u have to actually do a lot of chores alone because you dont have a mom anymore who will wash your  clothes for u etc.
like i thin most ppl have to help with chores in the house, but doing all on your own is still different
