What was vp like in the old days?
In the beginning, it was very slow. The same topics would remain on the front page for 2 weeks. I left and returned a year later. It was also impossible to buy credits due to a glitch, but the community kept vp going. The site later received a influx of new people when gsm closed which increased activity
There were daily shop drops, fan contests that awarded rl prizes such as a TV and something else I can't recall
It was possible to commission designers to make items solely for record labels
Designers such as palefire would create designs from requests ..Taylor swift, clueless etc and those items could be purchased by the entire community
what were the forums like?
Interesting. People could actually keep a conversation going and the topics varied.
were there popular (or just very visible) users ?
Anyone who posted in the forum was known, I don't think popularity was a big thing, nobody was really out to prove anything and no virtue signaling. Vp was just a vibe and it wasn't difficult to just chat
what was fun about old vp?
It was active!
It was possible to have different opinions without getting hate crimed or intimidated.
There has never been a substantial amount of poc on vp, but it felt more diverse than now.
Credit prizes for placing on hof
what memories or users stick with you from back then?
Felicity, Claude, moze, shrills, chandelier, happle, various designers, the user who killed her sister's pet, the infamous document, the creation of teams, a user who would low key brag about her cruelty to animals, people deleting after kaj's secrets were revealed ( they returned lol) there's more I can't be bothered to share but vp was a wild ride at times lol
??? not the animal cruelty ???? What was vp like in the old days?
