made a realization that visiting mom's sides relatives makes me bummed out and exhausted bcs they just talk about death all the time. it comes up in 50% of the discussions if not more
either a relative died recently or they talk about deceased people and then talk about their deaths or we visit the cemetery or they talk about some young kids dying in an awful carcrash locally and then that comes up the next 4 times we visit and then they talk about someone probably dying soon and then the news is on three times a day,

is it like this for you

talking abt dead ppl is fine i enjoy learning abt my family history but it's always tied to someone losing their life

i no longer wonder why i have consistent thoughts abt the car or bus or train crashing horrifically when we go back home.

The family I see the most is pretty small and tight knit, we’ve only had deaths happen the last couple of years but we don’t talk about it much when hang out, I think maybe just cause we all have other things to talk about with one other than just like family stuff or news since we’re all pretty good friends

😭 augh oh no
my grandma has 7 siblings n two of them died recently so it's a relevant subject and like. i get it. being cognitient abt the reality and closeness of death is understandable but i dont want that to be my number one association with my grandma 😭

In the last 3 years two of my uncles and one aunt died so it's kinda always present when I talk to relatives. I think I have more dead relatives than alive ones at this point.
Also we don't have a lot in common otherwise so we either talk about the dead relatives or someone tells the same stupid story about how my uncle stole a hand grenade from the army threw it in the forest behind our house.

Sometimes, and I don't mind if we're discussing someone's legacy
but if someone mentions their will and getting their affairs in order
it makes me uncomfortable and I exit the conversation

We don't talk about that, however, in my bf's family, his father keeps complaining about pain in his knee, but he refuses to visit the doctor, but he complains about it in every visit, and it's soooo tiring to hear it all the time, cuz its basically the same convo over and over again.
