Important: Anime Designs

I think theyre more fantasy maybe than anime, like you wouldn't see people wearing them walking down the street but it's absolutely nothing to do with how good or bad a designer you are bcause all the designers are amazingly good

You would be surprised.......people would do and I've seen it haha.
I just don't get now how people are subjecting things pixel under 'anime' like TimeLord said.

@Pug
Either way, it's still insulting to see people, especially MODS say that. In fact it's mostly mods who WEAR the 'anime' stuff that say it. (Ali for example)

@Rianne:
I've done designs based off real clothes, and your trying to tell me they aren't realistic?

To be honest I don't understand what your point is at all. It just seems like a big moan because a select few have given honest opinions about liking a new designer's style. Maybe 'anime' is not the right word for it, what was meant is that brush style is pretty and seemingly popular. You should remember that we all love your clothes and appreciate how much you do for the site, but that it's just different strokes for different folks. Some people like pixel style, some people don't

Just going to say; designs for virtual models are never going to look extremely realistic. I think it's a lot of pressure to be asking for things that look realistic for a site that doesn't have 'models/dolls' that are realistic looking in themselves.

I'm literally face palming right here.

I'm NOT ATTACKING THEM! for crying out loud. I said I didn't like the brush style HOWEVER they are good at designing.

I was TELLING people who are complaining about 'ANIME' clothing (as in the IN SHOW) clothing, that WE aren't doing it! It's also frustrating when people are filing anime with FANTASY clothing.

@Timelord
I could kiss you right now............................... Do you have any idea how hard it is to do LONG boots with these avatar's dodgy legs..

Erm, is this 'anime' or would it be considered more realistic? May I know?

seriously? anime is just a term people have adopted for your flat more pixelated style simply because it looks more cartoonish.
People are not complaining, they are simply appealing for more variety.

That's not anime....that's just plain pixel cell shading which is what the avatar's are done with.

as an example I think my whole outfit I have on right now looks realistic

I don't see any difference from what you are wearing to some of the examples given of 'anime style designing'.

I honestly don't know how to describe any of these styles. All I'm trying to say is that the designs we have are good, but the designers that have a different style should be considered because their designs have appealed to people.

I do not think anime nor realistic are the right words to describe what we are talking about right now, which seems to be causing a problem.

So Jess, really this whole thing is about people calling your designs anime when they're not??

Well they are the words that have been used in comparing the two 'styles' of designing in both this forum and where the forum which held the idea of 'anime style' designing not being what everyone wants.

No it's not...
I just think now people are categorising styles wrongly :/
Because apparently now
Pixel - Anime/Cartoon
Brush - realistic.

The ORIGINAL point to it, was when people saying they were anime clothing, I thought they meant to the clothing STYLE itself.

I don't think this is anime, but honestly I don't like it.

I'm just gonna get in the conversation here for a sec to say that (and don't hate on me if you've already said that, it's just kind of hard to go through every single reply) people got sort of tired of the normal variety of things that the shops offer, since (and this is from what I've seen) the things there are very plin and have a basic cartoonish cell shading. I do understand that clothes for pixel models cannot be designed in a very realistic way, since they would look very out of place and messy, but maybe base the designs off of real clothes, just like some designers did in the goSupermodel website, and try to make kind of pixel-ish replicas that would fit the models.

I don't think that designers should be judged on whether they use a brush or not and frankly I'm quite offended by some of the comments on this thread, if the clothes are good they are good, why are people getting worked up about pixels? As a designer myself, I use both the brush tool and basic cell, I don't think either one requires more talent than the other. Everyone has different tastes... Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's not a work of art to somebody else. :)

(God Claire has a derpy face...We just took this photo of her holding the dress.) I do design clothes based off real clothes, it's just the 'anime style' apparently.

@Bec
I don't get why they do either...if they are 'complimenting' them, then why this drama over it.

@Jess that's what I mean, I don't understand why people wouldn't want that. Again, I think they just got bored of the similar styles in the shops. :/
