Idk, I'm slightly colour blind within a grey-spectrum thingy so I think the last one was worse, it hurt my eyes and made it extremely difficult for me to focus on things, for example hunts for things on the website was just not going to happen. Also I strongly disliked that the girls in the previous wallpaper was in their underwear, for me personally that made this website extremely embarrassing to be on, so I think this one is an improvement for my personal values and stuff. 
I also experienced it as brighter? before, at least more disturbing 
I also like this one more. It's simplier and doesn't distract me that much.
