After four years of what some call living hell, these teens have finally passed all their finals and graduated high school. They walked across the stage, snatched their diploma from the principal, and made their way into the world. Well, that’s what people like to say for effect. As the summer came to an end for the kids of Laguna Hills, California, some realized they had no idea what to do. A certain close group of friends, especially. Sure the class president got accepted to various schools across the country, but he was in the same situation as the skater, with possibly the worst passing grades on the planet. They weren’t ready, they didn’t want to go right back to school like every other year, when they had the option not to.
That’s when they came up with the idea of a gap year. Most people take a gap year to do volunteer work, internships, or language studies. However, this group of high school graduates wasn’t up for all that. They just wanted a year to do whatever they wanted, so they decided to make up a little white lie. They all told their parents they were taking a gap year. That they’d do volunteer work in different countries, to learn more and improve their college apps. Now for some this wasn’t a problem. For some though, it was. What do you think the valedictorian’s mother said? Let’s just say she wasn’t in favor. However, with some persuasion, they all got the money they needed to go on this trip, with a little extra help from the rich bitch’s dad. A group of friends gone for nine months together? Nothing could be better. They can stay out all night, drink, smoke, do the dirty, anything they want without their parents being there. Although it seemed like the perfect plan, it was bittersweet for them. Fights would break out, relationships would crumble to pieces, and who knows when the first person will get hurt. Anything’s possible when a group of 8 teenagers are traveling the world together for nine months. Expect the unexpected.
